The War Zone RPG is a Military Online Role Playing Game, also known as a 'play-by-email' game, although every thing is done on the message board. You usealy play as the leader of a country or group of countrys. Or if you are joining an already existing group, you play as an Army General for example. Some people think this kind of game is stupid, but it is quite popular. Galaxy Force is an example. The game is set not to far in the 21st century, we use real military equitment and we have wars against each other, and against other countries.
The roots of the game go back to the Galoob Military Toy Buzz Board There, in the early days of that message board, a person named Bob made 'the War Zone' around March 1998. Lots of people joined and they had alot of fun. In a few months a guy named Sim Ity Came along, he started the 'New War Zone', a clone of the War Zone, he gave out high ranks to any one who joined. Lots of people left the War Zone and joined him. Bob got mad and there was a major war! They fought for a long time. Then someone else made the 'new New War Zone'. But things calmed down and alot of the members of the War Zone and the New War Zone dissapered. Then a person named Aceman made the Air Force Zone, it was sopposed to be a war zone with only airplanes. The Air Force Zone attacked the New War Zone and the New New War Zone. Then all the war zone stuff flared up again. The Navy Zone was made by Tomcat, and Bob made the True War Zone. Every one had a big war. Then the Navy Zone and the Air Force Zone formed an alliance, they called it NAFO (Navy Air Force Organazation, its called something differnt now though). Things calmed down a bit but soon people started making more war zone clones and NAFO attacked them. Everyone had fun doing stuff all over the Buzz Boards (The Star Wars Buzz Board is the only other Buzz Board thats left), but after a while, Galoob (the creators of the Buzz Boards) got mad because parents where complaning about the violence and gave us a hint to leave. So Bob found Delphi and told every one to move there. Bob made The War Zone Message Board. We moved there near the end of the summer in 1998, but we had lost alot of members, we still don't know what happened to alot of them. So we got the game started with only a handfull of people. We made rules and changed things to make the game better. We slowly grew as we got alot more members and we started to have some wars, but soon there where problems. Warthog, a member that joined when the Air Force Zone was started, and who was a big help in reorganazing the game when it moved, did not like the way Bob was running the game, he thought that Bob controled to much of the game. At first it was not that bad of a problem. WartHog was elected Commanding Officer of NAFO in late 1998, and lots of arguing started. In early 1999 things got realy bad, and every one took sides. Things got worse and worse, and soon Bob (Who had control of the Board) banned WartHog. A bunch of people stayed on Bobs board others sided with WartHog. Tony, A NAFO Member who was at that time Commanding Officer of NAFO, got a bunch of the members together and made a new message board called The War Zone RPG in the summer of 1999. We moved there and rewrote the rules to the game and changed some things. Bobs message board became alot less active, but is still alive. We only stayed on Tonys board for a few months and it went under. So finaly we end up at The War Zone RPG and we have a very nice Military RPG!
