Groups of undocumented aliens will run from the agent on foot. New helipcopters and an increase in pilots makes them keep their eyes to the sky and makes the job of the agent a whole lot easier. An experienced pilot will shorten a trail by hours and are a welcome sight by the the ground pounders.

Photo submitted by T. VanderhydeThis group of undocumented aliens knew they were being followed and climbed into the hills. The agents continue the pursuit but rely on skill, an occasional track, turned over rocks and broken twigs or branches. Tracking becomes slow and methodical which turns the advantage to the undocumented alien. They can rest and stay just ahead of the following trackers but the presence of this helicopter made the job easy and resulted in an easy apprehension.

A Border Patrol Helicopter helps to track undocumented aliens through the New Mexico desert.
