These plans are for the construction of what is known as a beat frequency metal detector. They come from chapter 6 of the book Getting Started in Treasure Hunting by Alan Smith. The book was originally published by Stackpole Books in 1975 and cost $3.95. The book is long since out of print. In the interest of teaching and research into the hobby of metal detecting, this information is provided at no cost for personal use only. Access to this material is intended only to educate interested parties (who otherwise would not have access to it) on the operational principles of metal detectors and should not be resold or used for commercial purposes. For the clearest results, I suggest trying to find a copy of the book at your local library or used book store.
