Ian
Irvine ____
Who,
what, why, when and how...
Who is this character i hear you asking yourself, well he
happens to be a very good Australian fantasy author whom
i ahve had the pleasure to meet and talk to. Oh and yeah,
i have read all his books :P. For more information on anything
related to Ian, go to his official home page, for more information,
look at my links.
The
View From The Mirror Quartet
This is the first series that
Ian wrote and it took him quite a while to get the series
up to his very high standards, although he says now that
he is still unhappy with the way they turned out. Im not
complaining, it is by far, the best fantasy series that
i have ever read. It follows the tale of two very diffrent
characters, Karan and Llian. We follow them through the
hard times that they face and the good times, although like
all good adventures, the good times are considerably less
than the bad times. It is a book that will make you laugh
one page, cry the next and really feel for the characters,
for they are presented in such a way that you feel as though
you know them.
Human
Rites
This was the next series Ian
put out, after completing The View From The Mirror series.
Unlike his first series, this is an eco-thriller science
fiction series. Although it deals with a very real problem,
the melting of Antartica and the subsequent rise of the
ocean's. It is based in Australia for the most part, while
concentrating around Sydney. As said by many reviews, it
is really a chilling look at what could very well be occuring
in the not so distant future. So far there is onlt The Last
Albatross and Terminator Gene out, but it is following the
lives of a couple living in sydney who go through great
peril and then looks to the future for a source of help
out of the desperate situation Australia and the world has
gotten it self into.
The
Poisoned Chalice
This story was printed in
a book called "Mystery, magic, voodoo and the holy
grail". Although this book has since stopped being
published, so i have heard. Anyway, this book is set in
the same setting as "The Last Albatross", although
with diffrent problems. This story follows the desperate
measures a mother will go to, to save her child and right
the wrongs commited, to her and others.
The
Well Of Echoes
This is a follow on from The
View From The Mirror Quartet, in which it is 500 years after
the void is closed. According to Ian it is the plans of
one of the characters in the The View From The Mirror Quartet,
being fulfilled. It follows a fatherless young girl, following
her through happiness and torment, it is also not finished.
