This is my 1969 Elan +2, as she looked the first day I brought her home. This car was owned by her original purchaser until last spring (1998) but during that time, she spent over 20 years parked outdoors. These pictures give an accurate idea of just how much work was needed when I bought her.

When a Dallas dealer purchased this car from the original owner last spring, the engine and transmition were removed. This was before the dealer decided it was too much work and sold it to me. (The dealer had it for about two months.) The Plus 2 was exactly the car I wanted, so even in this poor condition I was optimistic that she could be revived.

I decided to proceed in steps and separate the jobs, so the task of restoring didn't become overwhelming. I really didn't have much of a plan initially so I decided to refurbish the engine bay first. That way I could survey the rest of the car while working in a limited area.
