The Restoration We found the Chevy
on a farm just a few miles from home. The Chevy was suffering from a serious
lack of attention. Over the years it had been painted brown, the
upholstery redone and the chrome looked like dull steel. Unfortunately,
none of it was correct. We were happy to see the original engine
mostly in place even if it was a little worse for wear. After checking
with GM we discovered this particular car was originally built in Oshawa,
making it a Canadian car. Finding facts about the Canadian built
cars & how they differ from the US produced line proved challenging
& we are still learning. First
was to make the car mechanically fit. We began with a rebuild of the engine.
The following year we took the Chevy off frame and restored from the ground
up. Here are a few before & after pictures for now. More
pictures & details will follow. As you can see the Misty Green (or
Surf Green as it was more commonly called in the US) is by far a more attractive
colour. Outside we had all the chrome replated & the stainless straightened
& polished. Some new scripts and of course a complete paint job.
More to come.
We are constantly under construction, so we hope you will come back often to see our changes. We welcome any comments or suggestions.
