More podium finishes! Actually got my tail kicked in superbike, I'm low on horsepower for that class. |

Got caught with my pants down on
the starting grid in supersport (won't make that mistake again!)
Lots of competition here, finishes were about mid pack. |

Ouch! Bike is not running right. RTM Motorcycles is rectifying that as I type. |

Bike was running much better, but I crashed out of the superbike race, then wrenched the bike back into shape for the supersport race, but had to drop out early because a side cover was cracked and leaking oil. At least I got scored in supersport. |

RTM Motorcycles (main sponsor) came out to give their support this race weekend! Wish I'd placed a little better for them, but we all had a great time! |

8th |
Well, my modest 8th in SB was followed by a "didn't even start" for SS. I came around from my warm-up lap and my brakes locked up on the starting grid. Brake pads were worn all the way to the metal! I can't believe I let them get so bad without my knowledge. Could have been much worse. Live and learn. |

Rebuilt the top end just before
this race, so I was kind of taking it easy to brake-in my new 1 mil over
pistons.
Starting to wish I'd finish a few places better, but I'm having a great time...really! |

It rained alot, the track was very wet, but I raced really well. I'm normally very slow in the rain, but this time, I really pushed, kept it smooth, and made myself proud. The bike ran great! I finally got it tuned just right and took advantage of my broken-in rebiuld. 5th place got me some wood (a plaque) in Supersport. I was long overdue for that! |
| 10/21/99 | Daytona Int'l Speedway | LW Supersport | 19th | National Race of Champions!
Wow! Racing at Daytona is very cool. My bike is a little outclassed on such a high horse power track, but I managed a national ranking of 19. That's acceptable ... until next year! |

*Double points event!
Well, good news and bad here. During the superbike race, it was raining, which always suits me because a wet track has a horse- power leveling effect. I was headed for a great podium finish, and beating up on some stiff competition, when I crashed with 2 laps to go. With my supersport race two races away, I borrowed a handle bar from a fellow racer and got ready to race the bike with a pretty bent left footpeg. I didn't know if I'd finish the race because it was hard to shift, but I got used to it, the bike was still handling well, so I stayed out and finished 6th. That was enough to bump me into 3rd place for the Florida Championship. Great first season! Can't wait for 2000! |
