Subaru Impreza WRC'99

So, for my third model (and this was the one that the others, the Mercedes GLK GT-R and the Nissan R390 GT1, were practice runs for...) I undertook to make a rather attractive model WRC Impreza.

Once again, it was a Tamiya model, but this time I thought first and took some photos. As I progress, I'll post more photos of the emerging vehicle.

This is what the model looks like when you start. It's all in metallic blue plastic (apart from the windows :> )

A couple of the minor highlights of the raw model in this form are the bodyshell (which looks fairly complete apart from the bonnet scoops and rear spoiler):

...and the wheels. These will (I hope) become very gold, very soon! From what I can tell so far, the unusual-looking "double-dimple" item to the left of the wheels (just below the brake disks/calipers) is some kind of helmet rack in the real car. Anyone been close-up enough to the real thing to be able to tell for sure?

Primed all the plastics...

...and after the primer dried I got impatient and decided to paint the wheels first! (it was always going to be this way)

It's still on the kitchen windowsill :<
