Nissan R390 GT1 Le Mans Car |
|
This was my second model. The original paintwork is supposed to be black and red but - frankly - the effort of masking and getting most of the blends and cuts between the colours was a bit daunting. So the work on the model stalled quickly. Until... I saw a magazine article about the car (in Top Gear magazine?) where Nissan had made a road-going version. In a very fetching dark metallic blue. Much easier. (The Subaru fan in me wants to say Dark Blue Mica here, but it's too close to Dark Blue NissanMicra for comfort, so I'll avoid it. :> ) In the end I settled for Halford's Renault Electric Blue, which I believe is the colour popularly found on 16-valve Clios and Renault 19s.... doubtless someone will correct me if I'm wrong... The overall paint job on the model was much better than the Mercedes. I managed to keep the metallic particles fairly even (avoid blobs in the paint by being patient when spraying the car) and I took more car to properly lacquer the paintwork as well. I also managed to keep my sticky, gluey fingers away from the plastic windows (hooray) so they're still nice and clear. Another Tamiya model, I didn't think to photograph it until just after I had finished it...
