The final of the KasparovChess Cadet Grand Prix is set and the names of the participants don't surprise. Bu Xiangzhi of China and
Teimour Radjabov of Azerbaijan, the two highest rated players in the event, will face off on January 14 online in the KasparovChess.com Events
area.
The stage is set for a smashing final
match. Both players dominated their opponents in rounds one and two to
set up this battle of the favorites.
Bu Xiangzhi entered the final at the
expense of Ukraine's Zahar Efimenko. The GMs of KC and the spectators who
logged on to watch the games live were amazed by the ease with which the
young Chinese dispatched his powerful opponent.
They played a sharp sacrificial line
of the Sicilian with a piece sacrifice by White that is considered insufficient.
They zipped through the theory of the opening, Bu Xiangzhi playing the
first 20 or so moves in five minutes! The two-knight finale is well worth

Teimour Radjabov made the final of
the KasparovChess Cadet Grand Prix Online after his scintillating win over
strong Russian junior Vladimir Belov. His 1.5-.5 win displayed the 12-year-old
Azerbaijani's amazing confidence in unbalanced positions.
The KasparovChess Cadet GP has made
the papers in a big way. The online coverage got millions of hits from
China alone after Bu Xiangzhi won his first round encounter against Maxim
Rodshtein. We're taking it on faith that they are saying nice things!
