Chapter 78, Exploring |
The next morning Nick and Brian ran around the house together trying to find where every thing was. "I can't believe she paid 3 Mill for this place! It should be worth more." Nick commented as they opened a door that led to what looked like an office. "I think she said it belonged to some Russian Mafia members who got caught by the police. They auctioned it off, or something like that." Brian explained as the walked into the room. "It's some sort of library!" Nick said as they looked around the large room filled with two different computer systems and hundreds of books. Nick noticed that the book his mother had written was among the other books. He knew Brian would tease him as he stood in front of the bookshelf while Brian looked over the computer equipment. Nick noticed the desk in the corner and walked over to it. "Yup, this is an office." He replied as he noticed all the bills and legal papers that needed to be signed. As Nick looked around the desk, Brian had walked over to the bookshelf. "Oh Nick!?" Brian teasingly questioned. Nick grimaced as he turned around. "Yeah?" "She's got some nice readin' over here." Brian replied as he held up Nick's book. Nick walked over to the book shelf and noticed a small red latch. He pulled it down and was surprised to see the book shelf move to the wall next to it. Brian jumped a mile into the air as Nick laughed hysterically. When Brian turned around, he noticed that there was a door attached to another room. "Shall we?" Nick asked as he turned the knob. "Oh, go ahead girlfriend!" Brian said in his gay voice as he placed Nick's book back on the shelf.
When they opened the door the found a room with awards, gold records, CDs, magazine covers framed but not placed on the wall yet, and photos. "Storage room of the stars?" Brian joked as they looked around. After a while they became tired and decided to leave the small room. They pushed the latch back up, causing the bookshelf to move back into place. They left the office and decided to check out another room. "GYM!!" Brian shouted as he ran over to one of the weight machines. "Look, I'm Ahn-nold! I'm pumpin' i-yon." Brian said as he played on the weight machine, weights set at only 10 pounds. Nick laughed at him. "She said she *goes* to the gym. Then why does she have all of this?" Nick asked as he checked all the equipment out. "It's all new, Nick. She probably got it a week ago." Brian said as he noticed an invoice paper still attached to the weight machines and treadmill.
"Next room?" Nick asked as they closed the gym door. "It's locked." Brian replied as he tried to turn the knob. Nick and Brian exchanged questioning faces. "Nah, let's not. She has it locked for a reason." Brian said as he walked a few yards down the hall towards Breanna's room. The door was open. Brian walked in and let out a low whistle. "Talk about *keen-key*!" Nick replied when he saw all the mirrors in the room. "Nah, there aren't any mirrors on the ceiling." Brian replied as he glanced up quickly at the ceiling then back down to look around the room. Both guys didn't want to look around the room too much so they just glanced around. They were about to leave when the noticed a door off to the side. It was almost covered by a coat rack which was covered by clothes that Breanna had thrown on top of it. "What's that?" Nick questioned as Brian walked over to the wall. He and Nick moved the large, heavy rack off to the side and stared at the door. "I dunno 'bout this, Frick." Nick replied. "I just want to see what's on the other side." Brian replied as he turned the knob. Nothing. "It's locked." Brian replied. "Oh well...we tried." Nick said as he turned quickly on his heel to leave. "Let's finish checking this place out!" Nick called from the hallway. Brian eventually followed him out of the room. As they passed the locked door in the hallway, Brian stopped. "What?" Nick asked. "This is where that locked door in Breanna's room leads." Brian explained. "Yeah? And?" Nick asked. "Never mind. C'mon!"
Brian and Nick realized that they had completed the first floor and decided to see what they missed downstairs. They passed Kevin with Sarah as they ran down the stairs. "Slow down! Someone could break a neck!" Kevin shouted. Nick and Brian stopped running and turned to look at Kevin with a scared expression on their faces. "What?" Kevin asked. "You sound just like my MOM!!" Brian replied in horror. Kevin just gave them a strange look as he continued to walk up the stairs. Nick and Brian ran past AJ who was sitting in the living room eating a bowl of cereal. "Why does it seem like that's all he eats when he's in LA?" Nick asked as Brian shrugged. Both guys looked at the living room, family room, den and the two spare guestrooms and three bathrooms downstairs. "Just this floor should be worth 3 million." Nick replied. As they continued to walk down the first floor hallway they found three extra doors. "Let's see what's behind door number one, shall we?" Brian asked in his game host voice. They opened the door to find a large laundry room. "Well, that sucked." Nick replied as they closed the door.
"Door number two?" Brian asked. When they opened the door Nick practically jumped out of his skin. "Can I live here? Do you think Bree would let me pay rent?" Nick joked as he walked around the game room. "Bone, get over here!" Nick shouted as he looked around the room. "WHAT?" AJ whined; he staggered into the room after almost tripping over the imaginary bump in the carpet. AJ looked at the ground behind him with a pissed off expression before turning back around to face Nick and Brian. "Oh mother of god! She's beautiful!" AJ exclaimed as he threw himself onto the pool table. "Billiards, anyone?" He questioned as he examined the teal and ivory pool table. "No way, man!" Nick shouted as he played with the stereo system. Brian stood next to him looking at the CD collection. Nick looked over at the CDs and kneeled down. "Damn, she has like ALL of our CDs!" He shouted. Breanna had close to 10,000 CDs. Brian looked up at the walls all around him. Nick looked up at Brian with a smirk. "What the hell are you looking for?" Nick asked as Brian continued to search the walls. "I'm looking for her 'CD Now Shopper of the Month' certificates'." Brian replied. Nick rolled his eyes and continued to search the CDs.
"Hey Nick...!?" AJ cooed. "Yeah, Bone?" Nick asked as he walked over to the large screen TV with surround sound speakers hanging over it. "Open that." AJ stated as he pointed to a large wood cabinet. "Alright." Nick shrugged as he grabbed a hold of the cabinet doors. He pushed the doors in before they popped out automatically. Nick pushed the doors back and gasped. "Where'd...? How'd...? Wow!" Nick shouted. "What?" Brian asked as he walked over. "She has like, everything! Play Station, N64, Dreamcast, Sega! And all the games! Look!" Nick pointed to the 500 games. He saw a group of new games still wrapped up and pulled them out. He saw the invoice paper still attached to them and looked up at Brian. "CD Now." He stated. Brian laughed slightly as Nick gushed over the games in the cabinet.
Nick and AJ looked the games over as Brian wondered around the room. "Couches, Chairs, Laz-Z-Boys, and a mini fridge. Man, she pulled out all the stops." He murmured. "Think she had us in mind when she made this room?" Nick asked AJ as he glanced up to see what Brian was doing. "Nah, ya think?" AJ replied sarcastically. AJ stood up and went over to the other large cabinet that took up the entire wall. He opened it up and found what he expected. Videos. And hundreds of them. There were movies from all over the world, 50 children's movies for Sarah and Thomas obviously, all the latest Hollywood blockbusters, and even movies that hadn't been released in the theaters yet. AJ was about to close the cabinet when the last row caught his attention. "What's do we have here?" AJ asked himself as he noticed hundreds of private home movies. "Howie's BDay, Eve's BDay, Xmas in Paris, and Bri-Ana in Vegas...hmmm...." AJ said aloud as he pulled the movie out. "Oh Brian?" He questioned. "Yeah?" Brian asked as he walked over to AJ. "Remember Las Vegas?" "Which time?" Brian asked back. "When we met the girls." AJ explained. "Yeah, why?" "Well, remember when you got *really* wasted that one night?" AJ asked back as he tapped the video in his hands. "Yeah...and you all video taped it and...oh no!!" Brian exclaimed when he saw the video in AJ's hands. "Oh yes!" AJ replied.
"Hey, what are these?" They heard Nick shout at them from across the room. Brian ran over to Nick, trying to ignore AJ. "What are what?" Brian asked. "Those." Nick said, pointing to a small wall filled with different keys. "Keys for all the bedrooms, and rooms in the house. And for the studio." Brian replied as he read off the labels attached to each key. "Studio?" AJ asked. "Yeah, I haven't seen any kind of studio." Nick replied. "Maybe it's for that room next door to Breanna's." Brian suggested. Nick grabbed the key and ran upstairs. A few minutes later he returned. "Work?" Brian asked. "Nope!" Nick replied as he put the key back. "Hey Brian?" Nick asked as he saw Brian walking back over to the stereo. "Yeah?" Brian replied. "Door number three?" Nick questioned. Nick saw the light bulb go on over Brian's head and laughed. Brian grabbed the key from Nick and ran out of the room to the hallway. Nick and AJ followed him. Brian placed the key in the door and turned it. "Click!" Brian replied as he felt the door unlock. Brian opened the door and gasped. It was a fully equipped studio but it wasn't finished being put together. "Play time!" Nick shouted happily as he ran over to the Mac computer. "This has Cool Edit! Kick ass!" He shouted. "Hey, what time is it?" Brian asked as he looked over the console. "Almost 3, why?" AJ asked. "Be right back! I wanna go wake up D." Brian shouted as he ran out of the room.
