Breanna hung up the phone slowly in a daze. "Bree? You okay?" Izabel asked slowly. "Huh? Yeah, I'm fine. Lex just hung up on me. He's never hung up on me before!! He did a few times in the past as a joke but he was really angry." Breanna explained. "Oh don't worry about it, Bree. He's just going to the snow. I'm sure they'll make it before the storm hits." Izabel assured her friend. "No, I have this gut feeling. Something's just not right." Breanna explained, shaking her head.
AJ drove Howie to the airport in silence for the first few minutes. "What's up with you, man?" AJ asked Howie, trying to bring him out of a daze. "What do you mean?" Howie replied looking away from the window towards his friend. "Okay, don't get me wrong. I love Breanna, she's like the sister I never had. And I respect her as a friend, as an artist, but as a girlfriend, I dunno. You've put your life on hold for her. You've never done that for ANY girl." AJ explained. Howie thought about his response for a moment, something AJ was expecting. "I love her, AJ. That's it. Don't ask me how I could change my life for her or give up my life for her, but I can. I don't know how to answer you. I just love her." Howie responded. "I just hope you get the answer you've been waiting for, man. I hate seeing you so hurt. Just promise me one thing..." AJ demanded as they parked his car. "I can't promise anything but I can try." Howie stated. "Just expect the unexpected. And don't yell at her. I know something..." AJ trailed off as he sat in his seating thinking about how talking to Howie would do any good. "Something?" Howie coaxed. "Nothing, man. Just expect the unexpected." AJ stated as he hopped out of the car.
Breanna sat down hard on the couch as Izabel watched from the kitchen. "Bree, he just hung up on you. Don't worry!" Izabel stated. "Iz, you don't understand. Alexei and I *never* fight. When we do, it lasts about 5 minutes before we apologize. He's mad at me and hasn't called me back yet. This has never happened before. I know it's not that big of a deal but to me it is." Breanna explained. She finally got up and walked over to her entertainment center to look at the pictures she had framed on the top. Izabel was engaged with watch her, admiring Breanna for her grace; years of ballet had paid off. She held her head high, her back slight arched, one foot in front of the other, a slight swing of her hips; her long dark hair swayed from left to right. When she reached the entertainment center, Breanna placed her hand on her stomach, then smiled at Izabel. "Come look at these pictures!" Breanna urged as the thoughts of her fight with Alexei dissolved from her memory temporarily.
Howie and AJ walked into the terminal sighing with relief. It was too early in the morning for most fans to be out. Howie checked in at the counter and received his ETicket while AJ waited patiently a few yards away. AJ watched as his friend talked with the very pretty airline employee but he noticed something different. Howie treated her like he would treat any other person. Normally he treated the pretty women like delicate flowers. He was sweet, caring, compassionate, and helpful, but not this time. It amused AJ to no end as he thought of all the ways he could tease Howie later. When Howie returned, AJ was smiling. "Oh, what now?" Howie asked with an accusing voice. "Nothing. What is up with you?" AJ asked, slightly punching his friend in the shoulders. "Why do you ask?" Howie replied, staring ahead as they walked to his gate. "No reason, except you don't even look at other women the same. You know they're there, but you don't eye them, or gawk at them, or..." "I'm not you, AJ." Howie pointed out. "No, that's not what I mean." AJ tried to clarify. "I know what you meant. I don't know, man. I'm kind of going through something right now and women just don't appeal to me at the moment." Howie replied sarcastically. "Yeah, I know man. Damn, Bree has done a number on your mind!" AJ teased. Howie didn't know how to respond other than to laugh at his friend. They finally made it to Howie's gate and said their good-byes. "Treat her good, man. She needs all the care and affection she can get right now." AJ stated. Howie looked at his friend with a questioning face. "Just go! Find out for yourself." AJ demanded as he pointed towards the plane entrance. Howie nodded his head in a slight daze. "Yeah, alright. I'll call you once I get there." He stated. "No you won't man. It'll be 7am here! I'll be asleep and if you wake me up I'll hang up on your ass. Just call me once you've seen Bree, alright?" AJ stated. "Yeah, later man!" Howie waved as he walked on to the plane.
Breanna stood staring at the pictures on her entertainment center, smiling. Izabel sauntered over and stood behind Breanna. Izabel stared at the picture of Breanna holding Thomas when she first met him, Howie stood behind her smiling with his arms wrapped around her waist. They looked like a family except for the fact that Thomas looked nothing like either one. She noticed one of Breanna in Brian's arms, a bottle of Vodka in Breanna's hand and a very pissed Howie standing off to the side. "What happened there?" Izabel asked, pointing to the picture. "Oh, that was in Vegas. Brian and I became really good friends and he was my drinking partner in crime. He and AJ, actually. Nick could never drink too much without getting sick. Howie didn't drink that much because he wanted to keep an eye on me and everyone else. Anyway, Brian and I had been wrestling for the last drop of Vodka and I won. It was a very touchy-feely wrestling match and we were really plastered. Poor Howie was pissed!" Breanna explained laughing. "I would be, too, if I were Howie. I want a copy of that picture!" Izabel stated. "Okay." Breanna said in a daze. Izabel took a step to her left so she could see what picture Breanna was staring towards. When Izabel saw the picture, she frowned slightly. It was a picture taken during Christmas when Kevin and Eve became engaged; when Howie had given Breanna her promise ring. Both couples were smiling happily, the guys behind the women, as the girls held up their hands to show off their rings.
Howie sat anxiously in his seat, peering out the window into the darkness. He couldn't handle sitting still in a plane for five hours. After 20 minutes of trying to sit still he got up to walk around the plane. He didn't mean to annoy the other passengers who wanted to sleep but he was too anxious to sit. He knew if he sat down then he would begin to think. He wasn't ready to drive himself nuts so early in the trip. Finally he sat down and stared at his hands as his mind ventured off into it's own little world. Howie awoke to the sound of a little girls voice. When he opened his eyes, he looked around him. He was in the middle of lush green hills surrounded by large trees with swaying limbs. Off in the distance he could see an old English mansion. "Daddy!" He heard a little girls voice demand. He quickly looked down, following the voice, to see a slender little girl around the age of 3 with long, light brown hair and large, green, pleading eyes. "Me?" Howie finally found his voice to speak. The little girl laughed and grabbed his hand. "Let's go!" She squealed as she pulled him towards a large tree that had a wooden swing hanging from it. "You want to swing?" Howie asked the little girl. "Uh huh." She replied as she sat on it. Howie walked behind her slowly trying to figure out what was happening while trying to recognize his location. Howie pushed her slowly as his mind drifted off. "Daddy! Mommy pushes me harder." The little girl explained. Howie started pushing her faster until she was flying in the air. After one strong push, the little girl jumped out of the swing in midair. She started to fall towards the ground rapidly as Howie shouted "No!" When he opened his eyes a flight attendant was standing over him with a frightened expression. "Sir, we've landed. You may leave if you're ready." She explained. Howie thanked her before grabbing his bag. "Welcome to Los Angeles!" The pilot greeted as Howie stepped off the plane into the bustling terminal.
Izabel sighed and placed her chin on Breanna's small shoulder, hugging her from behind. "You okay?" She asked with a caring voice. "Yeah, I'll be fine. Just replaying the mistakes I've made in the past year and a half." Breanna explained. "You know, you can fix them. There isn't much time left, but you can try to make everything wrong, right again." Izabel encouraged. "Yeah, I know. I want to, believe me, I do." "Then?" Izabel asked. "Then what? I fix my mistakes but it blows up in my face. Then what?" Izabel turned Breanna around to look into her friends eyes. "Then what? I don't know. You go on the way you're going now. But what if you fix your mistakes and things go in your favor? Then what? Happiness? Contentment? A long life? You won't know until you try. So, stop your suffering, go pick up that phone and make a few calls. Talk to AJ. He's Howie's best friend. Talk to Brian. He's your best friend. Talk to Kevin. He'll give you the best advice in the world. Talk to Nick. He won't have much to tell you but I'm sure he'll make you laugh." Both girls laughed to themselves at the inside joke they shared about Nick. The poor guy had a way with words, or a lack of words. He was bad at phrasing things but he was an intelligent guy. He never learned how to open his mouth without inserting his foot first, and they always assumed he never would. "Or...." Izabel trailed off, bring Breanna out of her little world as she thought about Nick. "Or?" Breanna coaxed. "You could call D and tell him." Izabel suggested. "No! No way!" Breanna shouted, putting her hands up in defense. "Well, you have to start somewhere. I know, Mitchell knows, Alexei knows, but does Natasha or Eve know?" "No. You found out because you're good. Alexei and Mitchell know because I told them. Eve or Natasha would tell Kevin and Nick then they would tell Howie. *I* want to be the one who tells him. I want to be the one who sees him crumble to the ground in pain because I'm a thoughtless bitch who couldn't decide what to do until it was almost too late."
