Chapter 68, The Others

AJ was driving back home when his cellphone started to ring. "Yeah?" He asked as he continued on his way home. "Hey, baby!" Mya greeted happily. AJ's face lit up without even realizing it. "Hey you. Where are you?" He questioned as he stopped at a red light. "Where do you think? Germany. I might as well buy a house out here. So, how's home?" "Same 'ol same ol. So, what brings you to calling me so late?" He asked as the light turned green. "You're never asleep this early, Hun.   I called your house; you weren't there so I tried the next best thing. I didn't expect you to be home anyway. It's the weekend." Mya explained. "I was thinking of calling D's house if you didn't answer..." "Wouldn't have done any good. I'm on my way home after dropping him off at the airport. He's on his way to LA to try and fix things again." Mya sighed and shook her head. "They sound like us, don't they." "Yup! Hopefully they'll be lucky like us...but there's something a little different between them." AJ stated without realizing it, letting his mind do the talking while he concentrated on the road. "Oh? Like what." Mya was becoming curious. "Huh? Oh nothing. Never mind about that. Anyway, when are you coming home? I miss you." He cooed as he pulled into his driveway. "Next month sometime. I dunno, baby. Whenever we finish." "It's like I never see you anymore." AJ said with a slight laugh. "Would you like some cheese with that wine?" Mya joked back. "Oh very funny!"

"What time izzit?" Nick asked, glancing around the room. "What the hell!?" He yelled as he felt himself being taken down. "Ouch! Fuckin' A!" Nick shouted as he rubbed his head. "You think this is so funny, dontcha?" He asked Brian who was laughing uncontrollably. "Shit, if I's can't walk, ya can't neither." "Either" Nick corrected. "Phhhhhhhssssssss! Since when didja learn to talk right?" Brian laughed from the floor where Nick was laying. It was almost 3am and they were still partying. When their girlfriends left town, they always seemed to act like children. Kevin was at home with his wife and baby girl while Nick and Brian were drunk out of their minds. "Man, you're gonna pay for that!" Nick stated as he tried to get up, only to feel Brian grab onto his leg to drag him back down. "You're a prick!" Nick stated. "I may be a prick but you can't walk." Brian pointed out. "Wait 'til I get you back!" "Oh, how ya gonna do that, Frick?" Brian asked. "Dude, *you're* Frick. I'm Frack." Nick stated as he pointed to himself to help Brian identify who was who. "Frick Frack. Nick Nack. Same damn thing." Brian replied, crawling towards the living room. Nick was drunk but Brian was wasted beyond words. "Where ya goin'?" Nick asked as he stood up.   "To get another drink."  "Like you need one."  Nick said laughing. "Yeah I need one.  I'm not drunk yet.  I'm not as think as you drunk I am." Brian stated as he reached the coffee table where a bottle of Vodka, a few beers and wine coolers were sitting.  Nick touched the back of his head and felt a goose egg developing. "Man, now I'm gonna look like a conehead." Nick complained.  Brian looked at Nick with a blank expression before he burst into laughter. "Conehead!? HAHAHA!" Brian was on the floor rolling. He was curled in a ball, holding his stomach as he continued to laugh. "Shuddup!" Nick shouted with a laugh.  "You're still gonna pay for that."  Nick stated.   "Whatcha gonna do? Beat me at Nintendo?  Or Basketball?" Brian joked again.  Nintendo or Playstation were Nick's forte but Basketball was Brian's.   Nick was tired of competing with Brian at both and decided on a whole other alternative.  "Well, I dunno 'bout you but I have a different plan. Wanna play a drinking game?" Nick asked slyly.  He was sobering up slowly as Brian continued to drink and laugh. "Sure! What game? I'll drink your ass under the table." Brian said with confidence. "Hmmmm...how about *our* drinking game?"   "Huh?" Brian was confused.  "The Backstreet drinking game. The one the fans made up."  "You're so ON!" Brian shouted. He had a feeling that this game was something he could win.

Eve ran out of her room towards the nursery when she heard Sarah fussing.  Kevin rolled over in bed and groaned. "Eve, she's just making noises in her sleep.   Don't wake her." Kevin complained. Eve was too far down the hall to hear him.   Kevin sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes before he ran his hands through his hair.   He finally stood up, yawned, and stretched.  He was wearing flannel pajama bottoms without a shirt and every muscle of his well-toned body glistened in the moonlight.  Kevin shuffled out of the bedroom towards the nursery slowly, practically asleep as he did so.  When he finally made it to the nursery, 20 feet away, he stood in the doorway admiring his little family.  Eve was sitting in an old rocking chair that Kevin's mom had given them before the baby was born as a gift.  Eve had the little baby bundled up in a blanket as Sarah nursed silently.  Eve hummed quietly to the baby as she stroked her little girls hair. "Hun, maybe she should still be sleeping in our room." Eve said quietly as she looked up at Kevin with tired eyes. "Eve, she's two months old. I think she's old enough to start sleeping in her own room." Kevin replied with a soft voice.  Eve frowned at her husband before turning her attention back to Sarah. "Oh, alright." Kevin finally gave in.   He walked into the nursery and picked up the bassinet to take back to their room. "Kevin?" Eve questioned as he walked out the door. "Yeah?" He answered as he stopped in the doorway. "Thank you." She smiled. "You know I'd do anything to make you happy...even at 3 in the morning." He replied.

AJ and Mya stayed on the phone for hours. He updated her on everything that was going on with himself and the other guys while Mya told him about the new songs she was working on. "So, what's up with Brian and Izabel? They still haven't set a date?" Mya questioned. "Shit, I don't think they are even going to get married. They're happy with the way things are. They haven't planned anything or even *talked* about it. They're engaged, that's it." AJ explained. He thought they should have been married by now considering that it had almost been two and a half years since the engagement. "And what's going on with Breanna and D?" She asked. "I don't know. That's just too complicated." He said sighing. "AJ, I love you, but you're lying to me. There's something you're not telling me." She stated. "If I'm not telling you something, that doesn't mean I'm lying." He replied. "AJ, you know what I mean!" She whined. "Yeah, fine. There is something I'm not telling you, but it's the same thing I haven't told the other guys. Hell, even Breanna doesn't know that I know." AJ said. "So, you going to tell me or am I going to have to wait to find out?" She asked. "No, I'll tell you. By the end of the week, everyone will know. I just hope D can handle this. It's really unexpected."

"So, how do we play dis game?" Brian asked. Nick rolled his eyes and laughed. "We watch our videos, and if we see anything here that's on this list in any of these videos, then we do what the directions say. Get it?" Nick asked after he finished explaining the rules to Brian. "No." Brian replied. "Oh shit, this is gonna be harder than I though." Nick stated. "See this? It says if we see D wink at all while watching any of these videos, than we take a sip of beer. If we see you singing with your eyes open, then we drink everything in sight." Nick teased as Brian watched him with a concentrating face. "Um, I guess I get it. So, I'm gonna be wasted by the end of the video?" Brian wasn't sure how the game worked. "No, Frick. You've already reached that point." Nick explained. "I'm not wasted, I'm drunk. There's a difference." Brian replied with the most sober voice he had had all evening. "If there's a difference, please point it out!" Nick joked back as he popped in the All Access video. "Look! It says if AJ has a normal hair color, then we take a shot." Nick explained. Sure enough, AJ was playing host of the All Access video with his normal hair color. Nick handed Brian a shot glass with Vodka. "Next time you see AJ take the shot." Nick explained. Brian looked at the TV and quickly downed his shot. "Yo Bri, AJ wasn't on." Nick said in disbelief. "Yes he was!" Brian shouted, pointing at the TV. "No Bri, that was Howie." Nick explained. "Eh, same thing. They're both Latin." Brian stated in his defense.

Eve walked into their bedroom with Sarah in her arms. She watched as Kevin quietly set up the bassinet with Sarah's blankets and stuffed animals. After a moments time, Eve looked down at her little girl in her arms. She kissed Sarah's forehead as she slept peacefully. Her hair color was lightening somewhat, looking more like Eve's hair. Kevin finished fixing up the bassinet and walked over to his wife and baby. "How are my girls?" He asked with a sweet smile. "We're just fine." Eve mussed. Kevin looked down at Sarah and took her tiny fist into his large hand. She grabbed one of his fingers as reflex and held it as she slept. "She's so peaceful and innocent. I don't think I'm going to be able to handle it when she moves out." Eve said quietly as they continued to watch their little girl. After a few seconds, Kevin took the baby from Eve and walked over to the bassinet and placed her in it. They stood around watching her; Kevin's arms wrapped around Eve's waist from the back. "She's not going to move out. She's not allowed to leave the house or get married until she's 30." Kevin stated. Eve looked up at him and smiled. "I like the way you're thinking, Mr. Richardson." He leaned down and kissed her softly. His arms loosened up on her waist as he turned her around to face him. She started wondering his body with her hands before she found the tie on his pants. Kevin pulled back and looked into Eve's eyes. "I love the way *you're* thinking, Mrs. Richardson."
