Chapter 64, Furniture |
When Breanna arrived home, she looked around at the empty house. It had little furniture upstairs and even less downstairs. She wondered over to the sliding glass door and watched the pitch blackness that was the ocean. She heard her front door open and close but didn't bother to turn around. "Where do you want this crap?" He complained. "In my room." She replied, still not bothering to turn around. "God damn Hollywood egos, I swear." Alexei complained as he went upstairs. She giggled to herself and went to follow him. He was wondering around her large bedroom staring at the few photos she had on the wall. "So, you're really going to sell this place?" He asked while running his hand through his thick blonde hair. She watched her brother and admired him for his beauty. "What!?" He asked. "Nothing. Yeah, I guess I'm going to sell it. It's not like I need it." She replied, looking around. "Why not keep it for when you come out here to visit or vacation and buy a place in Orlando? You can afford it now." He suggested. "I can stay with you." She answered. "Bree, things with you are changing. Next time you're out here you're going to probably have Howie with you and..." "Yeah I know, I know. But, I don't know..." She trailed off unhappily.
Her tiny hand looked like a dime to Howie as he held Sarah. The tiny baby with the large green eyes was watching him. She yawned and let out a baby whimper causing Howie to smile. "When do you get to go home?" He asked Eve. They were alone in her hospital room while the rest of the guys were finishing the baby's nursery. "Tomorrow I hope. I just wish Breanna could have spent a little more time with Sarah before she left." Eve complained. Howie looked back down at the tiny baby before he comprehended what Eve said. "She left? Where'd she go?" His eyes were wide with a questioning look. "Oops, no one was supposed to know yet. She went back to LA. I think she said AJ knows because he dropped her off at the airport. She's going to sell the house." Eve explained. "What? I didn't think she was serious about selling the house. She loves that place!" "I don't know, D. She's been acting strange lately. I guess she's moving back here for good." Eve smiled at Howie. He continued to stare down at Sarah as she fell asleep.
She truly loved her house in Santa Monica but she was willing to sacrifice everything for Howie...when the time was right. If selling it to be back in Orlando proved to him anything, then she was willing to do it. "Bree, your stocks are doing really well. Almost all of your money has tripled. You can buy a few houses like this one, that's how well you're doing. Just keep this house and buy another one in Orlando. Call your friend Izabel or Natasha and have them look for something out there while you're here." Breanna liked what she was hearing but she wasn't sure if she could trust Natasha into picking out a house for her that she would like. Izabel had enough problems with Brian and Thomas. Brian was a big kid living in an adults body. "No, I'll just have a realtor on the East Coast with West Coast connections help me pick something out. I just don't want this to get out in the papers like it did last time. You should have seen Howie's face, and Brian! He didn't take it well." "Well, sis, I'm gonna get going. What do you want to do with this place? We'll start tomorrow. I have the entire week off." He stated happily. "Add more to this room. Fix up that little room next to mine, the guest room, and all the rooms downstairs. Why not hire an interior designer?" She suggested. "Sis, that's what mom is for. Give her a credit card, and bam! New house!" He joked. Their mother was great and using their fathers money. "You're right!" She laughed.
"D?" Eve asked slowly. He looked up at Eve and smiled. "Sorry!" "No, it's okay D. I know she isn't the most comfortable subject to talk about." He laughed and shook his head. "No, she's not. But...I don't know. She's just Bree. I'll give her all the time she needs, however long that takes. But, I'd eventually like one of these." He replied glancing down at Sarah as she slept quietly. "Yeah, they're cute but kind of painful." Eve said with a slight grimace. "I noticed." He laughed. "Oh yeah...sorry about digging my nails into your arm earlier." He looked down at the nail marks on his forearm and laughed. "Eh, no problem. That's what friends are for." "So, would you consider taking Breanna back if things change?" Eve eventually asked. "Oh god...I don't know. I want her back more than anything but things will be different for a while. It's gonna be a bumpy ride." He replied.
"I'll give mom a call tomorrow. I'll be gone all afternoon with a friend so call me tomorrow evening." She stated as she walked her brother to the door. "With who, may I ask." She nodded her head slowly, "with Mitchell. He still lives in New York but he has some business in town. I told him everything. He's going to help me shop for Eve's baby since I haven't bought her anything and then we're going to pick things out for this house, only he doesn't know that part yet." She joked. Her brother frowned at the idea but didn't argue. "Well, how about you call me? We'll figure things out." He suggested. "Sounds great! Night, Lex." She replied giving him a tight hug and kiss. "G'nite, Shorty!" He replied with a kiss on her forehead. When he left Breanna ran upstairs to change out of her dress. She looked her naked body over in the mirror and frowned. "I look awful." She stated to herself. She had gained a small amount of weight and it appeared to have all gone into her breasts and hips. "Now I'm going to have to buy a size 6!" She shouted. After a few minutes she smacked herself in the head for being so self centered. "Go to bed, go to bed!" She mumbled as she crawled into bed and stared at her clock. 8 o'clock. "This is a first." She whispered as she fell asleep.
Howie kissed Sarah on the head and handed the baby back to Eve. "Where are you going?" Eve asked with a slight grin. "Home, I guess. I'm really tired. It's been a stressful few days." Howie replied looking Eve straight in the eyes. "Okay. Thanks for everything Howie. If you need someone to talk to, you know I'm always here. I do know Breanna inside and out and I know exactly how she feels about you and what she's said. She made me promise to never tell you but she never said about answering questions if you asked." Eve replied with an evil grin. Howie laughed softly as he shook his head. "I'll keep that in mind. Goodnight, Eve." He leaned down and gave Eve a kiss on her forehead. Howie turned around and walked slowly out of the room. "Hey, Howie?" Eve shouted. "Yeah?" He replied after he walked back towards her room. "Breanna still loves you. She's just scared right now." Howie smiled and nodded his head. "Goodnight, Eve."
When she awoke she looked out the window. The sky was gray and the ground was wet. "I couldn't escape rain in Florida, looks like I'm not going to escape it here." After taking a quick shower she wondered over to her suitcase and took out a few things. She settled on black DKNY dress pants, her favorite black 9 & West clog sandals, a white shirt that Howie had given her from Armani and a zip-up DKNY black jacket that she bought to match the pants. She put her hair up in a French twist and secured it with silver and diamond butterfly clips. She wore a thin silver chain and small diamond earrings. She put little makeup on except for a light burgundy colored chapstick and gray eyeliner. She was happy with what she saw. Before walking downstairs she grabbed a small velvet box that she had carried with her everywhere. It contained her most prized possession. She glanced at the clock that stated 10 AM. "Any minute now..." She thought to herself as a car horn sounded outside. "How does he do it? Oh right, he's gay. Punctuality comes with the territory." She mimicked Mitchell as she grabbed her purse and ran outside. He helped her into the car slowly and careful. She looked up at him with an annoyed expression. "I'm not dying, Mitchell. I can still do the same things." She shot at him. "Mood swings!!!" He teased as he noticed the velvet box in her hands. He ran around the BMW and got in on the other side. "What's that?" He questioned. When she opened it his eyes grew large. "For me?" He joked. She laughed hysterically. "No, moron. I don't know what to do with it." He took the ring out of the box and stared at it. "Honey, it's platinum. You wear it!" He replied. He looked around to make sure that there weren't an cars watching them before grabbing her left hand and slipping it on. "There! You look complete." Breanna smiled. She felt better. "Where to?" He asked as he put the car in drive. "Baby's R Us! And that cute furniture store next door." "What?" He asked. "I guess I'm staying. I'll just buy a house in Orlando. I can afford it. Now we get to decorate my house. I'm sure that good interior design instincts come with the territory, too. Right?" She questioned knowing the answer already. "No, not with this gay man. I'm missing that gene. But I know a few people who could help." He responded.
After shopping for hours, Breanna and Mitchell went back to her house. She had ordered furniture for each room. She decorated one of the bedrooms for a boy and one for a girl, and the rest were decorated according to her friends personalities. She decorated her room the way Howie would have liked it but she liked his style as well. The baby furniture arrived later that day and Breanna showed the guys were to put it. "Eve's going to love this!" Mitchell exclaimed as Breanna smiled. "I hope so! And I hope Thomas likes this room. They're not going to be out here a lot but when they do come I want him to have his own room." Breanna explained. By the end of the evening all the rooms had their furniture. "Tomorrow we'll arrange everything and then we'll hire someone to paint and wallpaper. You can stay with me while they paint. I don't want you breathing in fumes." He stated. Breanna rolled her eyes. She turned around when she heard footsteps on the stairs and saw her brother standing there. "Hey you! Like the house?" She asked with a smile. "You two don't waste any time!" He shouted when he saw the house filled with furniture. Mitchell and Alexei had met several times in the past and were on good terms. "Well I'll be back tomorrow. Get some rest, okay?" He questioned, looking into her eyes. "Yes, father!" She teased with a small laugh. "I'm just looking out for you." He replied. "I know, Mitch. Don't worry about me. If I don't rest he'll kick my ass." She stated pointing to her brother as he nodded. "Okay! Good. Now go call one of them Backdoor Boys and tell them what's going on before the press tells 'em first." He stated. Breanna watched him walk out the door before turning to Alexei. "Too late." He replied as Breanna's face fell.
