Chapter 32, Growing Up

The guys stayed up late into the night in Brian's room while Eve and Breanna went back to Kevin's room to sleep before they had to be up at 8am. Breanna thought about the turn of events in Brian's life. "Wow, he's a father!" Eve exhaled looking at Breanna who stood in the doorway between the bedroom and bathroom. Breanna looked up at her friend and smiled. "I know. Things are going to be different now." Eve nodded her head slowly before deciding to tell Breanna about the week before. "Kevin thought I was pregnant." Breanna's eyes grew wide. "But I'm not!" Eve quickly added. "I had the flu and I told him that but he kept telling me that it wasn't flu season. He called Brian looking for help. Brian told him I would know if I was pregnant." Breanna looked at Eve and nodded for her to continue. "When I told Kevin I wasn't, he called Brian to let him know. Brian jokingly told him that if he ever knocked up a girl Kevin better be there to back him up." Eve let out a long sigh, with a nervous laugh. Breanna laughed quietly. "He was joking and look what happened." "Yeah, I know. Anyway, we better get some sleep." Both girls crawled into bed and quickly feel asleep.

"So, what are you planning to do, Frack? You're a dad now but your son lives in California. Um, you don't live here." Nick slowly pointed out. "No shit, sherlock!" AJ shouted. Brian sat looking down at the ground thinking about what he was going to do. "Maybe Izabel and Lita could move to Florida. I'll buy them a house or something. I can't leave Orlando but I can't leave Thomas here." Brian didn't know what was going to happen but he had fallen in love with Thomas. "You'll work things out. If I remember correctly Izabel was Rachel's opposite. Smart AND reasonable." Howie stated. "Just like your girl." Brian smiled. Howie nodded his head. "Okay, enough about my problem. D? Have you and Breanna been playing between the sheets?" Brian began to feel like himself again. "WHAT!?" Howie and Alexei squeaked. "Yo man, her brother's here. I'm sure he doesn't want to hear this." AJ pointed out. "No man, I already know." Alexei admitted. "Way to go, D!" Nick yelled patting his friend on his back. "Thanks, but I found something out about Breanna. Actually, I found something ON Breanna." Howie said looking at Kevin who laughed. "Yeah, I know." Alexei and AJ said at the same time. Both men looked at each other and laughed. "What!?" Brian and Nick asked with curious faces. "Same thing that's on Eve." Howie stated. "Eve, too?" AJ asked laughing. Kevin nodded. "They got tattoos!" Howie said, shaking his head. "Tattoos? Of what?" Brian couldn't picture both girls with tattoos, well, at least not Eve. "I don't know about Eve but Breanna has an angel tattooed on her hip." Everyone's eyes turned to Kevin. "Eve got one of a rose." Everyone nodded their head. "Sounds reasonable." Brian stated. "Okay, Kev, what's written on her tattoo?" Howie instigated. Kevin let out a nervous laugh. "Obviously Breanna has something written on her tattoo, too. Eve had my name written on one of the leaves." Kevin admitted. Brian and Nick's eyes bulged. "After three months!?" They were shocked. "Um, Brian, cuz, you have a son and um, well...." Kevin started. Brian's eyes lowered as he laughed. "I get your point. A tattoo is less permanent than a baby boy." Kevin smiled at his cousin who was starting to look like a brand new proud father. "Okay, D, what's Bree's say?" Kevin asked. "Sweet D. On one of the angels wings." "Oh how sweet!" AJ cooed. Howie picked up a pillow and tossed it at him.

"So, we get home, buy you a bigger house, and make a nursery?" Nick asked, unsure about how being a father worked. "No! I don't need a bigger house. I can barely keep up with housework around my place. It's big enough for Izabel, Thomas, and her sister if they decide to move in. But until then, I guess I'll turn one of the rooms into a little boys room. He's too old to have a nursery but too little for a Big Boys room." Brian said, zoning out. 24 and a father. It wasn't an unreasonable age to begin a family but Brian wanted to gain some more experience as a human being before starting a family. But after being in the BSB, having fame, fortune and the chance to see the entire world made Brian see people in a different way. He was still the silly, goofy, class clown that he always was but he was also the humble, soft-spoken guy who seemed to love life and everything that came with it. This was one aspect he was truly not expecting. Maybe it was the shock of finding out that his entire life had made a complete 180 turn in less than an hour. Brian was scared. But, he wasn't sure of what exactly. Maybe it was the fact that Izabel would refuse to leave California for Florida. Or maybe Izabel would never let Brian see Thomas again. But that would be impossible. He could always bring the courts into the matter considering that he was the father. But what else could be scaring him? What if the public found out? They would, of course, but how would he break it to them and how would they react? What about his parents? What would his mother think? The church? Would this ruin his career? Or his best friends career for that matter? What if he turned out to be a terrible father? Would his son forgive him for not being there from the beginning? Brian was scared senseless. Nick flashed his hands in front of Brian's eyes bringing him out of his gaze. "Oh sorry." Brian apologized with a goofy grin. "What's on your mind, B?" Howie asked. Howie knew that this was affecting Brian deeply. It would affect any caring man, but Brian was different. Howie figured that Brian would crack at any moment. The stress was getting to Brian and it showed in his eyes as he sat on the edge of his bed in deep thought. "So, what's up?" Kevin asked giving his cousins leg a slight push. "I'm willing to be Thomas's father, I love him. But we're not normal guys with normal careers. Guys, we live in the limelight. If this breaks, and it will, then what are we gonna do? Because of my mistake I could ruin your careers." Brian looked from one guy to the next. Finally AJ spoke up. "Man, if it ruins us, then fuck it! We have enough money to retire now and never do a damned thing for the rest of our lives and die with a few million left in our bank accounts. But our fans are too good to us. Yeah, some of 'em are going to be pissed but the true fans will be happy for you." Brian looked at his friend and smiled. He looked at the rest of the guys who nodded their head in agreement with AJ. "Cuz, your life and happiness is much more important then our career." "Yeah, don't worry Brian. We'll stick by you no matter what. We're family." Howie stated. "Yeah, Bri. Don't worry. If this does ruin us, then I'll go solo. No worries!" Nick joked. Brian punched him in the arm playfully. "Besides, the way D and Kev are going with Breanna and Eve, I'm sure this little situation will come up within the next year." AJ stated looking between Howie and Kevin. Both guys put their arms up defensively. "Uh-uh! That's not gonna happen!" Howie stated.

"Man, you're all getting old! Brian's a father, D, Kev, and Bone have serious relationships and I'm stuck playing the gigolo." Nick pouted. "That doesn't mean we're gonna change any, Nick." Kevin pointed out. "It just means we're willing to admit that we're growing up. Hey! We can still act like kids, Frack." Brian smiled. He understood where his friend was coming from. Brian wasn't ready to grow up, not yet, but he had no other choice. Fatherhood was calling.
