* Well I think I'm glad Beast didn't make it into the first X-movie. Here's a sketch of what he would have looked like thanks to Vex at the Beast of Burden site.

Altogether now, can we all say missing link? I knew that you could.

 * There is still no exact word as to wether Beast or Gambit will be in the next X-movie, I guess we'll still just have to wait and see kiddies. I'll see what I can find online and get back later.

* Also Beast recently made an appearence in three issues and counting of Wolverine. The feisty Canadian has dreams of murdering a Senator only to find that the Senator has been murderd in real life, and Logan's the person on the video camera doing the murdering. Hank is along for the ride to help Logan.

* This was posted by Julianna on the Blue Believers Mailing List

While covering the recent Saturn Awards for CHUD, Smilin' Jack Ruby got
a few words in with X-Men producer Lauren Shuler-Donner. The producer
confirmed that there will be Sentinels in X-Men 2. She also said that
The Beast will probably make it into the film. "We love Beast. I'd like to see him" Shuler-Donner said. Fans can also look for Professor X's unique training facility that was missing from the original. "We're going to fight for a Danger Room
sequence," Shuler-Donner told Ruby. "We felt robbed last time."

You can keep this one in the rumors category for now, I won't jump the gun untill we get the official word . Hopefully though, this lady knows what she's talking about and everybody's favorite bouncing blue Beast is big possibility for the next movie. Which starts filimg next January/February, BTW,.according to an interview with Hugh Jackman. Now if they just keep far far away from Mr. Missing Link above I'll be a happy Beast Fan.  Ewwww... Kill it before it spreads!!

Kidding. ;)

X-Treme X-Men

Issues 1, 2 and 3 - The Beast Issues

Writer: Chris Claremont

Artist: Salvador Larroca

What's This?:  Hank's last role in the X-Treme comics before his injuries and change to his Lion King form.

Beast's Role: Prime Beast material. For the most part it's an accurate portrayal of the Beast we all know and love. He does make a slightly off color joke about the death of the first Thunderbird, that I think is not like him, but it's one mistake in an overall good writing job.  I have to say I love the X-Treme X-Men art in its rendering of Hank. I think X-Treme X-Men is one of the best comics on the market so far, not just for Hank but for the art, the storyline and just the the very concept as well. I wasn't fond of Hank getting so thorougly trounced by the villan Vargas, I think Hank is quicker and stronger than that. But the writers had to do it to move him to the New X-Men. Personally I'd have loved Hank to be in both of them...X-Treme and New X-Men. LOL but nobody asked my opinion.

My rating: Art: 10/10  -  Story: 8/10  -  Overall: 9/10  -  Beast's Appearance: 10/10  -  Beast Writing: 9/10

Great, good, bad or ugly: Excellent. Good art, good story. Good Beast!

Wolverine

Issues 162, 163, 164, 165 and 166 (final) - Beast Guest Star.

Writer: Frank Tieri

Artist: Sean Chen

What's This?:  Hank's 5 book run in the Wolverine Comic.

Beast's role:  Hank's there to help Wolvie. He's noticed Logan's not right lately and he taggs along to find out what's wrong and try to help. When Logan is implicated in the brutal murder of a Senater. Hank ends up facing the mysterious Shiver Man, SHIELD, going to jail, loosing his powers and getting stabbed on his ride with Wolverine. Hank is portrayed well in this comic, as his usual jovial, caring, yet strong self.

My rating: Art: 10/10  -  Story: 9/10  -  Overall: 9/10  -  Beast's Appearance: 9/10  -  Beast Writing: 9/10

Great, good, bad or ugly: IMHO it's great, prime Hank McCoy material. A good read for a fan of Hank and/or Wolverine.

New X-Men

Issue 117

Writer: Grant Morrison

Artist: Ethan Van Sciver

What's this?  The latest New X-Men series with Beast as his latest incarnation, a big blue lion creature. Simba eat your heart out. ;)

Beast's role: Punching bag. If you haven't read the comic and don't want it spoiled don't read any farther. I was seriously dissappointed with this one. Hank himself wasn't bad, it was just the rest of it. I'm not sure wether to be outraged, annoyed or impressed. They did a very successful job in portraying the evil of Cassandra Nova, her hatred and how well she can use Xavier's body to torture somebody. Just why does that somebody always have to be Hank? He just got the s**t kicked out of him in the X-Treme X-Men... this is too much for me. And not just physical abusement this was heavy duty mental abusement too. The art is by a diffrent person in this one... and though better, it isn't prize winning stuff and it only added to the sometimes ugliness of the situations. It sucessfully creeped me out and very sucessfully pissed me off though and that's *all*ĻI am giving to Morrison on this one. I'm not even going into the litter box or this newest change in the X-Men's greatest couple... Jean and Scott. Now more than ever I am against this change in Hank and I'm thinking on starting a "We hate Trish Tilby" club.

My rating: Art: 7/10  -  Story: 7/10  -  Overall: 6/10  -  Beast's Appearance: 3/10  -  Beast Writing: 7/10

Great,Good, bad or ugly: Bordering on dog ugly. If I puked right now it would be in keeping with the mentality that has seeped into this comic book. This is not my X-Men. This is crude, this is harsh, this is perverted and it's sickening. It's nothing more than sick curiosity that keeps me reading New X-Men from here on out. Just to see how much more they can screw it up. Forgive my harshness and many may not agree but that's the way I see it.

X-Treme X-men: Savage Land

Issues 1- 4

Writer: Chris Claremont

Artist: Kevin Sharpe

What's this?: The temporary return of Beast to the X-Treme X-men Comics

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"Rogue is a mainstay of the X-Treme team, as she was of the X-Men before them. But she's also a woman in trouble, her life and sanity gravely threatened by the very power that makes her so valuable as a hero. Now, her power has mutated: like her name itself, it's gone 'rogue.' The residual psyches that she once absorbed-which at one time faded away-are stronger, battling hers for dominance. Worse, all those stolen powers keep manifesting themselves on a random basis that's totally out of her control. As if that wasn't bad enough, she's also having nightmares, recurring images of herself in flight from a pack of sentient dinosaurs. To help her, the X-Treme team has to divine the meaning and source of her dreams-which in turn leads them to answer a cry for help so stark and desperate that it cannot be ignored. Thus begins a journey that will take these mutant heroes to the bottom of the world - and to the dawn of time itself. For in a hidden corner of the globe, the great dinosaurs of the Jurassic and Cretaceous ages still rule - and some of the X-Men's oldest and most malevolent foes lie in wait to destroy them. There, in the Savage Land, the very best among the team will be confronted by the very worst that lies hidden in their souls, and as a result be forced to reassess what it means to be a hero. And possibly, a human being. Guest-starring the Beast."

Beast's role: Wonderful. Hank is called in to help when Rogue's powers start going even more nuts and she starts to have strange dreams. He's mostly his normal self, although I was a bit iffy about that bit with the female Lupa. I'm glad the writers showed him as being able to overcome her influence if there ever was any in the first place. In the end it's Hank that tries to comfort the transformed Storm...and I think that was a very nice touch. Good Job Guys

Good Hank Quote:

Storm (transformed into a sort of beast state): I just cut my tongue on my teeth.       Hank: I do that all the time.

My rating: Art: 8/10  -  Story: 9/10  -  Overall: 8/10  -  Beast's Appearance: 9/10  -  Beast Writing: 10/10

Great, good, bad or ugly: Great. The art is good. This artist even manages to make Hank's new lion king form look cool!
