North Carolina JCL Fall Forum |
 |
Location: UNC-Greensboro
Date: November 10th, 2001
Registration Deadline: October 18th, 2001
Be sure to come to the 2001 Fall Forum! The Fall Forum is a small version of the NCJCL State Convention designed to help us prepare for it, so it is very important that as many people as possible come. But that's not the most important reason to come, the most important reason is because it's really fun. You will be doing something fun and interesting from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony.
Right after the morning ceremonies you can attend two lectures of your choice on subjects varying from the eruption of Pompeii to costume design. The lectures are about 50 minutes each and very interesting. Then, it's time for Silly Olympika! Silly Olympika is a collection of track and field events including frisbee throw and the 200 meter relay. Anybody who wants to participate can. The Silly Olympika runs from after the first lecture period is over to one hour before the closing ceremony. After that, it's lunch time! Lunch is at the HUGE UNC-G cafeteria and is included in the price of registration, so don't worry about bringing your own bagged lunch. At the UNC-G cafeteria, there is you can eat whatever your heart desires. If you want pizza, you can have pizza, if you want something more exotic, it's yours. And dessert... don't even get me started on dessert. Lunch is from 11 AM to 1 PM, so you can get breakfast or eat for three hours if you want to. At around 1, it's time for certamen. Certamen is like Quiz Bowl or High IQ, except the questions are on Roman culture, mythology, vocabulary, et cetera, and we don't make you take a hard test if you want to play. If you want to play, sign up in your level, and you'll be on a team. Certamen is very fun and will be one of the highlights of your day. Losing is fun and winning is fun.
The registration deadline for the Fall Forum is in mid October, so be sure to pay before then. So that we can get at least two certamen teams in each level to participate and some people silly olympians, we need at least 10 members to come. If this happens, we're going to arrange for transportation to UNC-G. Registration for the Fall Forum is around 10 dollars and includes lunch. It may be lower or higher depending how many members come. But if enough people come, it will be lower. We encourage everyone to come because the Fall Forum is really fun and helpful. You will learn about Roman culture and how to play certamen. You will have lots of fun playing certamen and during both the opening and closing ceremonies.
