Do not confuse "protektzia" with the mafia-style concept of "protection." There is no connection between these two concepts.
Protektzia is a contact in a position of authority or power. He can often help you cut through bureaucracy, and he can help you get the things that you rightfully deserve anyhow (or more).
Actually, successful people around the world use protektzia all the time. However, they use a more politically-correct term. They call it networking.
Those of us on this Protektzia group benefit from the assistance of the other subscribers in order to further our goals. That's protektzia.
