Answer to History
Q: How do you see the world in the year
2000?
A: " Let us wish that by the year 2000
there will be, not three worlds, but one single, co-operative world.
There cannot be but the one world if we believe in detente and co-existence.
It is clear that once this is achieved, there will only remain the
problem of the haves and the have-nots, and every nation will have
to co-operate in raising the standard of living of those who are classified
today as under-privileged.
I will also say that even the element of radicalism, which is plaguing
our worlds-in-conflict at the present moment, will be diminished once
there is a rise in the standard of living of developing countries
like yours and mine. The duty of the developed world, therefore, is
to speed up the development of backward countries.
The
world by the 2000 should really be One World for mankind to live in,
as an international, working partnership. "
