Answer to History Q: How do you see the world in the year 2000? A: " Let us wish that by the year 2000 there will be, not three worlds, but one single, co-operative world. There cannot be but the one world if we believe in detente and co-existence. It is clear that once this is achieved, there will only remain the problem of the haves and the have-nots, and every nation will have to co-operate in raising the standard of living of those who are classified today as under-privileged. I will also say that even the element of radicalism, which is plaguing our worlds-in-conflict at the present moment, will be diminished once there is a rise in the standard of living of developing countries like yours and mine. The duty of the developed world, therefore, is to speed up the development of backward countries.
