| Chapter Three "It's 9:27 you guys come on!" I yelled upstairs. "We're coming!" Christi said. After they finally finished we headed over to Brian's house. When we got there I knocked on the door. Brian answered it with a big grin on his face. I smiled back. I had decided not to tell Christi and Gwen because they would want to "accidentally" mention it at brunch and that would make Brian and I feel very uncomfortable. Brian gave us a tour of his house it was exactly like ours except he has a lot of dark colors and ours are light or bright colors. "So do you like it?" Brian asked. "I like it," I said "It suits your image." "O.K. everybody," A.J. said clapping his hands and rubbing them together. "Let's Eat!" We all went to the table and sat down. There were all kinds of food healthy food, junk food. It was like diet heaven because you could be on any kind of diet and still be able to eat right. I had a bagel w/cream cheese and this delicious sandwich thingy. Afterwards we all just made small talk. "So what do you do?" Brian asked me. "Oh, right now I'm not doing anything, right now my father said I needed a break so he sent me on a vacation in Florida!" I explained. "But, I used to work as a ward clerk at a hospital." "Really, do you know like medical terms and stuff?" Brian asked interested. "Yeah, actually I was in school to be a nurse at the time!" I answered. Our conversation, Brian and I, went on for a while and it was very intense and it felt like we were the only two people in the room I told him mostly about me, an I found out that he's in the music business, nothing big though. "Anyone, up for a little volleyball." A.J. asked breaking the barrier that separated us from the rest. Everyone agreed so off to the beach we went. We started playing. Time went by and the score was still 1 to 1 and it wasn't because the teams were equally good. It was because there was only one good player on each team. Which were Brian and I. I guess they we're all being distracted by the opposing team, that means I don't know how many time Christi adjusted her bikini top straps. "Come on, guys get it together." I yelled after missed the crooked hit that A.J. had sent over. "Yeah, come on." Brian commented to A.J. and Nick. "You guys think you're really something." A.J. said after Brian's comment. "We don't think we are, we know we are!" I replied with a devilish grin. "Right on!" Brian added cornily. "Okay then, you and Brian against us four." Gwen said boldly. "Is that a challenge?" Brian asked raising one eyebrow. "Yeah!" Nick answered. "Then we except." I said boldly looking over at Brian. Brian then ran around to my side of the net while Gwen and Christi moseyed around to Nick and A.J.'s side. "First one to ten wins!" A.J. yelled while getting ready to serve. "Maybe they'll stop staring at each other and actually play." Brian whispered to me. We played the game and soon the score was 8 to 9 we with the most points of course and it was our serve. I served the ball. It went over the net right to Nick he bumped it back. It was a ways in front of me, but I wasn't going to let it go. I lunged forward and hit the ball right before it would have hit the sand. Just as I thought Brian followed through and spiked it over the net. "Ouch." I said after trying to stand up on both feet. "Whoa there, you all right?" Brian asked as I tried to move to the bench, but almost fell. Brian helped me to a bench. "Yeah, I'm all right I probably just landed on my foot the wrong way and twisted it, I'll be okay though." I said sitting down and putting my leg up on the bench. "You sure you don't need and ice pack or something." He asked. "No, I'll be fine." I assured him. "Did we win?" I asked him. "Yeah, we won." He said switching his concerned face into a smile. After a few minutes of boasting the twisted ankle pain was gone. So I ran out to surf to put my feet in the water while the others were at the bench. Then I got the brilliant idea. "Brian," I called distressed "my ankle's acting up again." I was squatting down on one leg. He ran to the side of me. "Are you all right?" he asked. "I'm just fine." i replied and then splashed him right in the face. I got up and ran a little distance and then turned around to see his reaction. He was just standing there. He then walked over to the table slowly. He placed his pager and watch down on the table. "So, you want to play that game." he sprinted towards me. I turn around and ran, but he soon caught up to me. He picked me up and walked down into the water and dropped me. I got soaked, but when he was walking back up to shore I jump on his back and took him down. While celebrating my victory I notice that he hadn't come up. I got scared. I went into the water; I brought his head above water and felt his body it was limp. I called for A.J. and Nick. A.J. tested his pulse. "There's no pulse," he said with his eyes widened. They help me drag him on to the sand. "Do you know CPR?" Nick asked as we pulled him on the dry sand. "Yeah." I replied. I then pressed my lips firmly against his and blew air into his lungs. I then laid my hand firmly on his chest. "Thought I was a goner didn't you?" Brian said with a smile. "That wasn't funny." I said a little upset, but with a little smirk cause I was glad he was okay. "Well, maybe I didn't think your ankle trick was funny." he said sitting up beside where I was sitting. I then started to get up. "Just a taste of your own medicine." he said getting up dusting the sand off of himself. "And you, " I said poking A.J. in his chest. "You lied, it was like you guys planned it." "Well, it was the oldest trick in the book for Brian and I didn't want to mess it up." he said. I walked pass them to the table. "So, you guys enjoyed seeing me frantic." I said with a smile. "Well, sort of." Brian replied. "Whatever." I said dismissing it. After that we just played around and had fun till about six o'clock. |
