Chapter Four

"Hey tonight you guys want to have a sleep over up in my room." I asked Gwen and Christi who were watching TV.

"That sounds like fun, I'm in." Gwen said.

"I'm fine with that." Christi said not taking and eye off the TV screen.

"But, our fridge is empty." Gwen noticed.

"Okay, I'll walk to the store." I grabbed my purse and headed out the door. Brian was getting in the pick-up truck when I was walking by Nick & A.j.'s.

"Nick and A.J. went somewhere so if your coming here for them they're not home." he said.

"Oh, no!" I explained, "I'm just walking to the store."

"Walking to the store?" Brian said shocked.

"It's like two miles away from here! Can I give you a ride?" he asked holding the passenger side door open.

"Could you?" I asked really not wanting to walk.

"It's doable." he smiled.

"Good, I really didn't want to walk anyways!" I said smiling back while getting into the truck.

"I don't blame you!" he said going around to the other side. We drove for a while with no conversation. Until, I got this weird look on my face and he noticed it.

"What?" he asked.

"Do you know where the store is?" I asked with a huge grin.

"Why do you asked?" he replied.

"Well, you were supposed to turn left a ways back." I began to smile. Brian swooped the car around I grabbed on to the dashboard.

"Oh, are you all right... I'm so sorry... did I frighten you...I'm"

"Brian," I interrupted "I'm okay." I smiled.

"I just wanted to make sure," he said "So what are you getting from the store?" he asked.

"Umm stuff for a slumber party." I explained.

"Oh, well, who's coming over?" he asked.

"Oh, no one, Chris and Gwen are going to sleep up in my room." I explained fully.

"What are you guys going to do?" he asked.

"Girls stuff." I said smiling.

"Like what?" he asked out of curiosity.

"Pedicures, Manicures stuff like that." I explained as little as I could, trying to think of something to change the subject. He probably already think i'm daddy's little rich girl, I don't want him to think that I haven't gotten out fomr under daddy's wing at all.

"So where were you headed when I walked up?" I asked.

"Oh, I was going to the store too." he said.

"For what?" I asked hounding the same way he did me.

"Sunburn lotion, my shoulders got all red and flaky today," he explained. I reached behind his seat to get my purse.

"What are you doing?" he asked trying to look at what I was doing.

"Keep your eye on the road." I said still rummaging through my purse after I found it. Finally I found what I was looking for "Try this." I said handing him a little bottle.

"What's this?" he asked. "Oh, it called Lotion Potion, it my grandma's recipe." I flipped the bottle over.

"See, from grandma made with love and care." I read the sticker on the bottom aloud

"She was a chemist, I remember one time I told her I had a head ache, so she went into the kitchen and put a penny and water into a spray bottle and called it H2OC Not knowing my periodic table I thought it was a real magical potion." I told my story "She sprayed it on my head and all in my hair told me in a little while it would be all better."

"Well... did it work?" he asked curiously.

"Yeah, but I was so happy, went and boasted to the other kids, and we started playing and I forgot all about it." I explained.

"OK, we're here." Brian said pulling into the parking lot.

"Aren't you going to come in with me?" I asked.

"No I'll just wait out here." he replied.

"Please!" I begged with widened.

"OK, I'll come in!" he unfastened his seat belt and jumped out of the truck. He helped me out of the truck and soon we where strolling down aisle.

"Brian, could you get me a basket?" I asked my hands full of stuff.

"Oh, so this is why you wanted me to come in, so you couls make me your slave." Brian said with a smile. I shot him this look. "I've got it. " Brian went down to the front of the grocery store and got me a shopping cart. I had to pick up a few more things then we could go.

"Hey, Brian do you think you could take me by the video store?" I asked while the cashier rung up the groceries.

"Yeah, sure actually that's a good idea, I might some movies myself." he answered.

"So what movies are you going to get?" he asked.

"I don't know?" I said " I want to see Urban Legends have you seen that movie?"

"Yeah, it's good." he answered.

"What's it about?" I asked.

"No, no, no, you have to see it for yourself I'm not telling." he said.

"Oh, that sucks!" I said playfully punching him in the shoulder.

"Oh, I see you're the kind of girl that would rather watch the movie then read the book." he smiled.

"You've only known me for like 12 hours." I said stopping in my tracks while Brian walked on.

"I still know, when you know a detail like that you know most of there type." he said.

"Try me." I replied.

"Okay, you'll stay up all hours of the night, but won't want to get up early, you you beileve in the saying be yourself, but you don't practice it, and your favorite Ice cream is chip n' mint." he finished. There was a moment of silence.

"No, you don't me!" I said trying to convince him even though everything was true. Brian shrugged it off and then changed the subject

"So is the cheese really better in California?" he asked trying to make conversation.

"Yeah, well, to me it is, it depends on what you think is quality cheese." I said with a smile.

"Next time my dad send me some I'll let you try It," I said. "Your dad sends you cheese in the mail?" he said confused.

"Yeah, he thinks California is the best thing since sliced bread." I giggled "He think slice bread was invented in California!"

"So he sends me things like weather reports Polaroid's of movie stars and music artist." He just stared at me. It wasn't a "that's-retarded" stare, it was weird I can't explain it.

"Brian..." I said after I finished. "Brian" I started to feel uncomfortable "Your giving me the heeby-jeebies," I said.

"Oh, I'm sorry I just wondered off." he said with the cutest smile. You could tell he was embarrassed.

"Okay, I'm ready to pay." I said Brian walked to the long line.

"Oh, do you know where the gummy worms are?" I asked.

"Just a second." the cashier said continuing to ring up the groceries of another customer. It was taking along time, so I went to look at magazines.

~Brian's Point Of View~
Alexis had gone to the magazines. I waited in line rocking back and forth hands in pockets. I just stood there and watched her. Everything was so plain and simple about her and she was smart. I liked everything about her, even the little things. Like the way she smiles and the way she always sweeps that long piece of hair that always falls in her face behind her ear and then the it just falls once more. I just don't know what to think, is it possible to have feeling foe a person this early."Sir..." the cashier said breaking my train of thought. "Tell, your wife that the gummy worms are on aisle 4." she said.

"Oh, she's not my wife." he replied. I walked over to Alexis. "The clerk said the gummy worms were on aisle 4."

~Back To Me~
"Oh, I changed my mind, besides by now, I could have went and got them myself." I said.

"Oh, and the groceries are all rung up so..." he said.

"I'm coming." I said putting the magazine down.

"That would be $24.17," she said. I handed her a $20 and a $5 and left the change. Brian grabbed three out of the five bags and headed towards the store door. We went back out and put the groceries in the back of the pickup truck. Brian came around to help me in since the step stool that was at the house wasn't there. "Watch, your step." he said as I held his hand. We soon arrived at the video store. Brian got out and came around to let me out of the truck again. Holding his hand again I hopped out of the truck almost falling.

"So what good movies have you seen lately?" I asked as we walked through the parking lot.

"Oh, lets see I've seen The Faculty that was good, Urban Legends of course." he said with a smile.

"I wanted to see that new Jim Carey movie I keep forgetting the name." I said snapping my finger trying to remember. "Liar, Liar?" he asked.

"Yeah, have you seen it?" I asked,

"No, we should go see it sometime together." he suggested.

"Sure!" I smiled as he opened the door for me.

"So what are you going to get?" he asked.

"Well, I trust your judgment, so I'm going to get Urban Legends, The Faculty, Bride Of Chucky and my favorite movie Princess Bride, oh I haven't seen it in so long." I said as we walked to the horror movie section.

"Princess Bride never heard of it?" he said confused.

"Oh, it's kind of a kids movie." I said a little embarrassed.

"I ought to see that some day," he said scanning the video racks.

"Oh, here it is Urban Legends!" he handed me the movie.

"That's one!" I said looking for another. "Here goes Bride Of Chucky." I said.

"That's two," he said mimicking me.

"Whatever!" I said,

"Here's three." I said it less enthusiastically picked up The Faculty.

"Now all we have to find is... what was that movie called again?" he asked

"Princess Bride." I said.

"You go to the kids section and look for it, and I'll go to the counter and ask the clerk." I said.  I walked up the counter in the very front.

"Hello, may I help you?" the lady behind the counter asked.

"Ahh... yea can you see if you have the movie Princess Bride?" I said.

"Okay, it's going to take a few minutes so you can go ahead and look around or pick up some other movies you need." she said politely.

"Okay." I replied. Just than Brian turned around and asked

"Is it live or animated?"

"I'll get it." I said. I asked him if he could wait for the women. So he went over there while I scanned the racks of movies.

~Brian's Point Of Veiw
Alexis asked me to wait for the women at the counter. I looked at her once again. She was so, so, there I don't what i was really atracted to. She just makes me feel so... good. Leighanne didn't even make me feel this way and I was about to marry her. Maybe i'm getting my emotions mixed up. "Sir..." the lady said breaking my trans

"Tell, your wife that we have nothing even close to Princess Bride." I gave her a weird look, but then just let it go.

"Alexis." I called for her "They don't have it."

~Alexis
"All man!" I exclaimed rather loudly "I can't find that movie anywhere and that was going to be my birthday present to myself."

"When's your birthday?" he asked.

"Two weeks from today." I replied.

"Your birthday's Monday the ninth?" he asked.

"Yeah, you calculate fast." I said. Brian got this blank look on his face. I just stared at him to see what her would do next.

"Brian," I said.

"Oh, I'm sorry I just start thinking and my mind goes off." he explained. I thought about it on the way home. We were home Brian came around and help me out of the truck.  We carried the bags to my front door.

"Thanks for the ride." I said while I got my keys out of my purse.

"You're welcome." I turned around to unlock the door.

"Oh, are you busy Thursday night?" he asked. After a big breath

"No, why do you ask?" I said sort of prying.

"Well, about Liar, Liar I'm not doing anything Thursday and I wanted to know if you wanted to go see it." He asked.

"Sure!" I said.

"Okay," he said, "I would stay and help you, but I don't want to see one of your roommates prancing around in there bed clothing, whatever that maybe." he said. I giggled.

"Okay, I'll see you later."  I said opening my door and carrying the groceries. There was Gwen and Christi waiting by the phone their heads turned when I walked in.

"Alexis where have you been?" Christi exclaimed.

"We were worried sick about you!" Gwen said.

"Oh, I'm sorry I should have told you Brian gave me a ride and we went to the grocery store and to video store." I explained.

"Hold up, you and Brian where out together?" Gwen said.

"Yeah," I said plainly obviously not seeing what they were.

"Okay, we forgive you as longs as you tell us everything that happened." Christi said.

"You guys nothing happened." I said seeing their true coors in the situation .

"Well, if nothing happen tell us what didn't happen." Gwen said eagerly.

"It wasn't a date it was a trip to the store, nothing more." I said unpacking groceries.

"You mean a trip to the store that took two hours!" Christi stated.

"OK I'll tell you when the sleepover starts." I said even though there wasn't much to tell, just to get them off my back.

~Nick & A.j.'s
"Hey, Brian where have you been?" asked Nick.

"Oh, I took Alexis to the store." Brian replied.

"Hey, A.J., Brian has been out with Alexis all this time at the 'Store'??" Nick said making parenthesis around the word 'store'.

"Sure, sure tell us what really happened." A.J. said coming from the kitchen.

"I'm telling you what happen, " Brian said, "We went to the grocery store and then went to the video store and then we came home."

"And nothing happened." Nick asked opening a can of soda. "No seductive glances, No pecks on the cheek, no flirtation?"

"Well, I think there was a little flirtation, but you can never tell." Brian said.

"Well, ask me I'm an expert at this stuff." A.J. said.

"Sure, you are" Nick said sarcastically.

"The weirdest thing did happen." I said, "What was that?" Nick asked.

"Well, you know that magazine we were looking at earlier?" Brian asked.

"Yeah!" Nick replied excited.

"Nick, not the magazine under your mattress." Brian smiled.

"Well, you know how we were playing around reading our horoscopes and everything and it said that Birthdays are Love day for me and then it listed the 9th, 13th, 27th, 31st." Brian continued to explain.

"Yeah, what's so weird about that?" he asked.

"Well, Alexis birthday is the 9th." Brian said looking at Nick.

"Were going out on Thursday, but..."

"Your going out with her Thursday?" Nick exclaimed.

"Yeah, what's wrong with that?" Brian replied

"Nothing," Nick said "It's just we've been begging you to tell us what happened and you say your going out with her three days from now."

"Well, I think we're just going as friends." Brian said.

"You still should have told us." A.J. said putting his two cents in.

"I don't always have to tell you everything!" Brian said.

"Frick." Nick said drawing the word out.

"Frack." Brian said mimicking him.

"I'm going to my house I'm tired." Brian went to his house up to his room and soon fell asleep.
