(Or. . .A Guide to Becoming Brujah in 5 easy Steps!)

Step 1 - Step 2 - Step 3 - Step 4 - Step 5

Step 1 - the Manditory Disclaimer!

This is only a game.

That's right, it's only a game. This is a hobby, not a way of life. Those of us who play this game do so out of the necessity to have fun, and make friends that we would otherwise never have the chance to meet. This game is an outlet for imagination, an outlet for those of us with talents to share them with others. This, in no way, dictates our entire existence, and should never be taken so seriously as to ruin your day if your character doesn't get what he wants, or cause you more stress than a full day's work.

That said, remember not to take things too personally. If a friend of yours has a character who backstabs one of yours, why should it break up a friendship? This is a game of backstabbing, back-room murders and betrayal, comradeship and leadership, and most of all, survival. Destroying a friendship over an in character decision is idiotic, and cause for seeking serious psychiatric help.

Keep an open mind about the game, and its players. Not everyone will be as smart as you, as good a roleplayer as you, as conniving as you, or as likeable as you. Deal with it. Come to a happy medium, and roleplay. Don't judge someone because they spell a few words wrong, or don't, perhaps, know as much about a particular clan as you do. Help them, teach them, and one day maybe they can be as good as you, or as knowledgeable as you.

The Staff here works hard to keep everyone happy. Seriously. And although the staff seems to change a lot, and when the staff changes, things change, regardless of who the staff is, they work their asses off to make this a fun place to play. For some reason the staff has gotten a bad wrap though. Why? Because they are human as well. Does becoming staff automatically strip you of all emotion, or dislikes of certain people? Does being staff mean you have to like everyone? No. We are human Do we play favorites?

No.

Keep to the rules of the game. This is an online setting, and thus probably less strict than a Table Top game. This is to be expected. As opposed to ten or so people in a Table Top game, we have a hundred people to look after. The rules are set down to keep all of us happy, and to keep all of us knowing the game is as fair as it can be.

Keep in mind the Storytellers are here to make things run smoothly. If you are disputing everything an ST says, aren't you the one disrupting the game? There's a little thing that's in the books called "The Golden Rule". This applies to Storytellers, and if a Storyteller tells you you are wrong, why argue? It's more stress than need be. Be courteous and civil to the staff, and they'll extend the same courtesy to you. It's that simple.

This is a game. Its sole purpose is to make everyone participating have fun while sitting in their living rooms, with half-empty bags of chips and half-empty cans of soda sitting on every plausible place they could sit on, with all of your friends. Our Living Rooms happen to be our computers, and our friends happen to be people from across the globe with like interests.

Please, just sit back and have fun. (Written by David Manning, Copywright 2000)

Step 2 - What's up in the city or Who's Who in Necropolis

This step is the line where OOC and IC blurs. The information here is for your own good OOC so it can help you make a charater that will be worth your while to play IC. Here is a list of what and WHO Clan brujah controls:

Cinnamon Raven is the current Prince of Necropolis. She owns two businesses: Raven School of Fencing and Raven Securities.

Heather Pinacciao is the Sherriff of domain. She controls a large streetgang called the Firestarters.

Raekwon Is the Primogen of the clan

Najah Devildog owns an extreme sporting arena

Jaycen Quinn owns a tatto palor.

Eden owns a dojo called Shaheed.

Your storytellers are here to answer any questions you have. Here is a list to help direct you to the proper person to be sure you are answered quickly and prompty.

Head Storyteller:

Assistant Storytellers:

Step 3 - Regulations and good 'ole concepts

So, after glancing around what the Brujah in this city are about, you wanna play one. First there are a few things you need to know. The following are the regulations (NOT restrictions- we are not here to limit your imagination- only to make the game fair for everyone) for game playing the Necropolis by Night chronicle for Clan Brujah. For more in-depth character guidelines and a note from our our ST incharge of sheets, download the file here.

Now what is a concept? Its one or two words that defines who and what your character is. Yes I know, if your first reaction to that statement was thats IMPOSSIBLE - good. Although a concept may seem confining- it's very helpful throughout the creation process. Its a word to keep in mind when putting your dots down on a page- so they will mean more. Think of it this way. . .Im looking at my sheet- will my former college student-turned-rebel have two dots in Academics or two dots in brawl. Well- unless he was on the wrestling team or was an underground fighter- you would go with academics. Now granted, academics may not be helpful in a fight- but you have to stay true to your concept. This isnt policed, and as long as you stay in the guidelines your dots wont be questioned at creation. But when your college student can beat up with the best of em but cant name three literary greats from his English 2 class- well, youre not really playing a college student, are you? Also, certain concepts are not viable within the Chronicle. The "Rebel without a Cause (clue)" is way over done. As are visiting (insert a title). Plus the seemingly ever popular gang banger without a personality. Sabbat survivors are as well unfortunately, as many times people make the situation surrounding the character unique. With a bunch of "unique" sabbat survivors coming in every week, it gets old hat extremely quickly. Make who the character is unique, not what he is, why he is, or even how he is. Just keep it in mind as you go onto. . . .

Step 4 - Create and Submit (or DIE!)

Here are the guidelines for creation. Once completed, submit your character HERE

  • Pick your concept
    • Pick your Nature (how your character truly is)
    • Pick your Demeanor (how your character acts)
  • Assign Attributes (Physical, Mental, Social) Remember each starts with one dot automatically
    • Primary (7 Dots)
    • Secondary (5 Dots)
    • Tertiary (3 Dots)
  • Assign Abilities (Talents, Skills, Knowledges)
    • Primary (13 Dots)
    • Secondary (9 Dots)
    • Tertiary (5 Dots)
  • Advantages
    • Disciplines (Presence, Potence, Celerity): 3 Dots
    • Backgrounds: 5 Dots
    • Virtues (Conscience, Self-Control, Courage): 7 Dots - Remember each starts with one dot automatically
  • Finishing Touches
    • Humanity = Conscience + Self-Control
    • Willpower = Courage
    • Merits and Flaws (you have 15 Freebies to start with, which can be raised to 22 by buying up to 7 flaws- THIS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT)

FREEBIE EXPENDATURE:

Attribute - 5 points per dot
Ability - 2 points per dot
Discipline - 7 Points per dot
Background - 1 point per dot
Virtue - 2 points per dot
Humanity - 1 point per dot
Willpower - 1 point per dot

Step 5 - Okay so Im approved, what now?

Come on in and play! Heres a short guide to the commonly used shortcuts and emotes we all use on WW.

Asterisk (*) -or any form thereof. Its used to distinguish things your character says from things your character thinks or does. For example: *She walks in and smiles* Hi everyone.

RP- Role playing

OOC Out of character. Can also be distinguished by double brackets (( ))

IC or BIC In character or Back in character.

DD Description Drop

~T~ - Telepathy. Usually done in PMs

PMs- Private messages. On White wolf the Private messaging system works like this: You chose a name from the dropdown menu and send off your message. Thats all there is to it. Please post all main actions to the full room- if the room can see it, post it to the entire room. If your character is talking in a normal voice, post it to then entire room. Save PMs for whispers & telepathy

WW- White wolf

*RAE*- Raises an Eyebrow

*S*- Smile

*LOL* - Laugh Out Loud

BRB-Be Right Back

BBL- Be Back Later

BBS- Be Back Soon

AFK- Away From Keyboard

*Ed note. We dont endorse cyber sex, but if you feel the need, keep it to private messages or ICQ. Just as a courtesy to everyone else who is trying to RP. Same with OOC conversations- If there is RP going on in a room, or trying to start, put it in PMs or go to another room. Its only polite. Thank you!

And now, another topic: Experience. People love to hord it. People love to spend it. As of 2/01/03, experience is kept by our approval ST. A character will no longer be allowed to hord over 60 experience at a time.

Trait.... Cost
New Ability.... 3
New Path (Thaum).... 7
New Discipline..... 10
Attribute.... new rating x 4
Ability.... new rating x 2
Clan Discipline.... new rating x 5*
Other Discipline.... new rating x 7*
Secondary Path (Thaum).... new rating x 4
Virtue.... new rating x 2**
Humanity.... new rating x 2
Willpower.... new rating + 1
* Out of Clan Disciplines do not include those that are Clan specific. Clan specific Disciplines MUST be taught by a recongnized and sanctioned character of that Clan.
** Raising a Virtue through experience will not automatically raise traits based on that Virtue; like Humanity and Willpower.

But wait- how did someone GET that much experience in the first place? Well, here in necropolis you get 1 exp per week, if you play a minimum of four hours in that week. Also, you may recive spot exp or plot exp. The only way these will be recorded is is the Storyteller for the plot and you the player both e-mail the Experience ST, Marika with a note on how much exp you earned. This is the only way this type of experience will be recorded!

Now that your hip to the lingo (shut UP Erica) you probably wanna get going. If youve stuck around to read all this, your character is obviously Camerilla. As per usual, be sure to e-mail the Prince with a note of introduction. Have fun and try to remember its only a game (see Step 1 Disclaimer for clarification).
