Peder Erikson Braatelien
Peder, who was born at Mallinrud, was perhaps, at one time, Sigdal's strongest man. He was patient and good natured and never tried to start anything. But one time he went by a place where some of Sigdal's strongest men were arguing and getting ready to fight. He was asked to stop the fight. He took the best man and the other became afraid and ran. One time, as he came walking, he met a bear up on Braateli. He was asked, "Didn't you become frightened?" "No," he said, "It looked like the bear was frightened, but to be safe I took out my knife and was ready." I saw him often when I was a young boy. Peder was father of the Sigdalslag's first president, and a grandfather of the present president. Knut H. Skyliholt. Sigdalslag 1914. |
