FIFTH GENERATION

James Everett (c1755-1823) and Edith ______ (c1765-1837)

James Everett was born ca. 1755 in Halifax County, North Carolina, the only son of Samuel Turner Everett and Amy _______. James married Edith ______ about 1772, and subsequently enlisted for service in Captain Ernul's company during the American Revolution, after which he received a voucher for pay in the amount of 9 pounds, 2 shillings from the auditors of the Newbern District on December 10, 1782 (payment was finally made on April 1, 1787, including 2 pounds, 3 shillings interest). James and Edith raised their family of at least 11 children in what became Martin County, but after 1810 they moved to neighboring Edgecombe County, where James died in 1823, followed by Edith in 1837. All their children were listed in James' November 15, 1822 will, probated the following November.

  10. Sally Everett, born ca. 1796; married ______ Goddard
  11. Edith Everett, born ca. 1799; married ______ Baton
