(The highlighted name indicates the Perry Co., AR connection)

Note: In 1858, part of Franklin County, GA , including much of the area around the town of Homer became Banks County. So, in the following information, an individual did not actually move just because the county name changed.

James Monroe Little enlisted on Aug. 24, 1861 as a 2nd Lt. in the Banks County Independent Volunteers, which was made a part of Co. A. 24th Reg., Georgia Infantry. He served in the battles of Chancellorsville and Bull Run and other. He contracted typoid fever and was mustered out of the service in 1864.

After the collapse of Confederacy, James Monroe Little was unable to pay the taxes on his farm in Banks Co., GA. The family emigrated in 1868 to a farm in McLemour's Cove, in Walker Co., GA near the present town of Crawfish Springs. This farm was on land owned by James Monroe Little's half brother, Thomas Bowen Griffin. In 1880, the family moved to Saline County, Arkansas. They were met by others relations including Enoch Rucker and Cicero Richards. In Saline Co., they settled on a farm about 5 miles from the town of Bryant. There James and Louise spend the rest of their days.
