12 PROMISES FOR THOSE WHO ARE DEVOTED TO THE SACRED HEART
(Given to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque by our Lord in 1675)

1. I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.

2. I will establish peace in their homes.

3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.

4. I will be their strength during life, and above all in death.

5. I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.

6. Sinners shall find My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.

7. Tepid souls shall grow fervent.

8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.

9. I will bless every place where a picture of My Heart shall be set up and honored.

10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.

11. Those who shall promote the devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.

12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to those who communicate on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving the sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in their last moment.

CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART:
To Thee, O Sacred Heart of Jesus, we devote and offer up our lives, thoughts, words, actions, pains, and sufferings. To Thee, we consecrate our souls and bodies with all their facilities, so that no part of our being may any longer be employed, except in loving, serving, honoring, and glorifying Thee. Be Thou, O Most Sacred Heart, the sole object of our love, the protector of our lives, the pledge of our salvation, and the secure refuge in the hour of our death. Be Thou, also, O Most Bountiful Heart, our justification at the Throne of God, and screen us from His anger, which we have so justly merited.

In Thee, we place all our confidence; and convinced as we are of our own weakness, we rely entirely on Thy compassionate mercy. Annihilate in us all that is displeasing and offensive to Thy pure eyes. imprint Thyself like a Divine Seal on our hearts, that we may ever remember our obligations, and never be separated from Thee. May our names, we beseech Thee, by Thy tender goodness, ever be fixed and engraved in Thee, O Book of Life, and may we ever be victims consecrated to Thy Glory; ever burning with the flames of Thy Pure Love, and entirely penetrated with it for all eternity. In this, we place all our happiness. It is our desire to live and die in no other quality than that of Thy devoted servant. Amen.

SMALL CONSECRATION TO THE SACRED HEART:
O, Sacred Heart of Jesus, filled with Infinite Love, broken by our ingratitude, and pierced by our sins, yet loving us still, accept the consecration we make to Thee of all that we are and all that we have.

Take every faculty of our souls and bodies, only day by day draw us nearer and nearer to Thy Sacred Heart, and there, as we shall hear the lesson, teach us Thy Holy Way.

CONSECRATION OF THE FAMILY TO THE SACRED HEART:
Sacred Heart of Jesus, You made clear to Saint Margaret Mary Your desire of being King in Christian families. We today wish to proclaim Your most complete kingly dominion over our own family. We want to live in the future with Your life. We want to cause to flourish in our midst those virtues to which You have promised peace here below. We want to banish far from us the spirit of the world which You have cursed. You shall be King over our minds in the simplicity of our faith, and over our hearts by the wholehearted love with which they shall burn for You, the flame of which we will keep alive by the frequent reception of Your divine Eucharist. Be so kind, O divine Heart, as to preside over our assemblings, to bless our enterprises, both spiritual and temporal, to dispel our cares, to sanctify our joys, and to alleviate our sufferings. If ever one or other of us should have the misfortune to afflict You, remind him, O Heart of Jesus, that You are good and merciful to the penitent sinner. And when the hour of separation strikes, when death shall come to cast mourning into our midst, we will all, both those who go and those who stay, be submissive to Your eternal decrees. We shall console ourselves with the thought that a day will come when the entire family, reunited in heaven, can sing forever Your glories and Your mercies. May the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the glorious patriarch Saint Joseph present this consecration to You, and keep it in our minds all the days of our life. All glory to the Heart of Jesus, our King and our Father!

PRAYER OF CONFIDENCE:
Lord Jesus, to Your Sacred Heart I confide. Only look, and do what Your Heart inspires. Let Your Heart decide. I count on It; I trust in It. I throw myself on It's Mercy. Lord Jesus, You will not fail me.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in You.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I believe in Your Love for me.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, may Your kingdom come.

PRAYER BY JOHN HENRY NEWMAN TO THE SACRED HEART:
Most Sacred, most loving Heart of Jesus, You are concealed in the Holy Eucharist, and You beat for us still. Now, as then, You say: "With desire, I have desired..." I worship you with all my best love and awe, with fervent affection, with my most subdued, most resolved will. For a while, You take up Your abode within me. Make my heart beat with Your Heart. Purify it of all that is earthly, all that is proud and sensual, of all that is hard and cruel, of all perversity, of all disorder. So fill it with You, that neither the events of the day, nor the circumstances of the time may have the power to ruffle it; but that in Your Love and Your fear, it may have peace. Amen.

PRAYER OF REPARATION AND PRAISE TO THE SACRED HEART:
Lord Jesus, in adoring Your Sacred Humanity by devotion to Your Sacred Heart, we acknowledge Your great love for us, and Your Kindness, Compassion, and Pity for all men.

You proved the depth of Your Love by assuming our nature, and by freely embracing our human condition with all of its limitations. You showed Your Boundless Mercy by healing the sick, expelling demons, and raising the dead to life.

You did not hesitate, in the fullness of You Love of us, to submit to unjust judgment, a cruel Passion, and a shameful death as a criminal. Yet, as You were dying on the Cross, You asked God's Forgiveness of Your torturers and those responsible for Your death; You made provision for Your Most Holy mother, and for Your followers, and You forgave the good thief. Your Heart which loved man so much was pierced, at last, by a soldier's lance to signify the torrent of Your Limitless Mercy for all men.

Your most ardent desire, then and now, is that each one of us be converted, and live forever according to your example. Help us, then, to appreciate that perfect love like Yours involves sacrifice and pain here below. Please aid us in imitating your Spirit of Mercy and Forgiveness to all men. By following Your example, we will rise with You to new life with God, we will be glorified as You were, and made worthy to live forever with Your angels and saints in God's eternal presence. Amen.

V. Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
R. Make our hearts like Thine Own.

Sweet Jesus, Redeemer of men, look down upon us here in Your presence. We are Yours, and wish to remain always Yours. We now freely consecrate ourselves to your Most Sacred Heart, so that we may be made more surely united to You.

How many there are who have never known You. How many, too, who have rejected You. Have mercy on them all, Most Merciful Jesus, and draw them to Your Sacred Heart.

Be king, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken You, but even of the prodigal children who have abandoned You. Grant that they may quickly return to their Father's house before they die of wretchedness and hunger. Be king of all who are led away by error or separated from us by discord, and call them back, so that there soon may be but one flock and one shepherd.

O Lord, grant to Your Church freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the whole earth resound with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that won our salvation; to It be honor and glory forever. Amen.

PRAYER OF SALUTATION:
I salute you, through the Sacred Heart of Jesus, all you holy angels and saints of God. I rejoice in your glory, and I give thanks to our Lord for all the benefits which He has showered upon you.

I praise Him, and glorify Him, and offer you, for an increase in your joy and honor, the Most Gentle Heart of Jesus. Deign, therefore, to pray for me, that I may become according to the Heart of God.

NOVENA TO THE SACRED HEART:
O, Jesus, Who hast said: "Ask, and you shall receive; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you." Behold, I knock, I seek, and I ask that my prayer be granted (mention your request).

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I put my trust in Thee.

O, Sacred Heart of Jesus, to whom one thing alone is impossible, namely, not to have compassion on those who are afflicted. Have pity on us poor, miserable sinners, and grant us the grace which we ask of You through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your and our tender Mother.

Say the Salve Regina (Hail, Holy Queen...)

St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us.
