The Johann Heinrich Shallus Family Genealogy

Johann Heinrich Shallus was born in 1672 in Gimbsheim, Germany. Johann Heinrich's wife's name was Anna Margaretha Schmitt. Johann and Anna died in Germany and are buried there. Their three sons, Valentine, Phillip, and Sebastian came to America and settled in Philadelphia. Sebastian Shallus moved to Brothersvalley Township, Somerset County sometime before the 1790 census. He is listed on the 1790 census for Brothersvalley Township. Sebastian Shallus married Maria Christina Graff on December 18, 1753 in Faulkner Swamp, Montgomery Co., PA. Valentine Shallus remained in Philadelphia and his son, Jacob, is credited with penning the Declaration of Independance.
