I'm told by my father, John Michael Gallagher, that his grandfather on
his mother's side, his mother being Minnie Edwards; that her Father was a
Civil War veteran and he had lost one eye in the war. I'm told he was
well over over 6 ft tall and I noticed he had long beard in the last
picture I had seen. That picture was on a tin and it has since
disappeared since my mother's death in 1979.

Minnie came to Kansas as a child in a covered wagon with her family from
Kentucky; this
is the story she told me, her grandson, James Daniel Gallagher in 1956.
My friend Ron Simmons from
Memphis, Tennessee, took a trip with me to Kansas for genealogy research
for 4 days. We obtained the marriage license from the Crawford County
Courthouse for Michael Charles Gallagher and Minnie Francis Edwards was
astounded to find she was living in Siloam Springs Arkansas. I assume my
grandfather
Michael must have met Minnie my grandmother during a stop over on one of
his trips. Michael was a
railroad engineer.
