At Chilhowie UMC, we believe that support for
missions is a vital part of our Christian witness. We support many different
missions throughout the world.
Below is a description of one of those missions.
Holston Hospital in Yadgiri, India is an Advance Special
of our Church
In the 1950's the Holston Annual Conference constructed a
hospital in Yadgiri, India. The Methodist Hospital offers treatment in
all medial specialties to residents of the town and surrounding villages.
Our Advance Special gifts help to provide treatment for patients who cannot
afford to pay.
A recent letter ( 5-Feb-1997) from the Hospital to the church
says:
"We write to thank you for your gift...for Yadgiri Hospital
Recurring Program. This gift will come in very handy to underwrite the
budgets of the different programs.
As you may be aware, the health care of the rural people
is very important in our country where the majority of our people living
in villages are beset with ignorance and superstition. The process of education
is slow but this is gradually changing.
We thank you for you interest, concern and support and do
continue to uphold our work on your prayers."
In a letter dated 1 April 1996 the Hospital says:
"We write to thank you again and the members of your Commission
for the gifts...
Your gifts will come in handy to underwrite the program budget
of the institution for which it is designated.
The gift will help in a big way in procuring medicines, drugs,
injections, etc. in giving treatment to the poor and needy patients who
cannot afford to pay for the same.
Thank you again for your love, concern and support, as represented
by your gifts, towards this very worthy cause."
