The Competition Team consists of members of the Ballroom Dance Club who commit themselves to meeting twice a week, once with the club and once again with the team, in order to learn dances and steps in a fast-pace and supportive environment in preparation for performances and competitions. The team members benefit from extra lessons with the professional instructor, help from each other, experience in competing at other colleges, performance and fund-raising opportunities, and even a team jacket. This year, members of the team performed with the Paul King Orchestra at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. This is the team's first full year competing, and we have managed to make a great impression at five competitions with couples dancing in newcomer and bronze levels of Swing, Cha Cha, Mambo, Rhumba, Tango, and Foxtrot.

Dave: After dancing the basic cha-cha step, "Oh, there's more steps?"
Dave to Lisa: "Did you just say, 'I'll be your Jackie Chan'?"
Jill (the masachist): "My partner beats me. Do you see my bloody lip?!"
Lisa to Dave: "I'll consider today's tournament a success if you don't punch me in the eye again."
Melissa to Gina: "You were doing triple step? I was dancing single step!"
Brianne to Jay while dancing the Tango: "You ripped my skirt!" Jay: "Well this is the dance of love!"
