Kent County, MI

August 23, 2003

Ephraim E. Brown fought with the 64th NYS Volunteers in the American Civil War. He was 17 when he enlisted, against the wishes of his mother, Lucinda Morris Brown. During his service he was under fire 27 days and was wounded six times - twice with minie balls, twice with bayonet and twice with shell.

What did we see and do?

His gravesite with the monument made by his own hand at Englishville Cemetery in Alpine Twp

E.E. Brown's "after-the-Civil-War" homestead in Plainfield Twp
