HISTORY OF KERSTEN LUMBER CO
Was Founded in 1947 by Roy Kersten as a lath mill.
The following year a saw mill was added.
Goodwin Gunderson purchased the sawmill from Roy, but Roy continued to sell the lumber and buy the logs.
In 1965 his sons Philip & Richard purchased the mill from Goodwin. Roy continued to stay active in the business.
In 1976 a fire destroyed the mill in Wittenberg. The mill was rebuilt in Birnamwood.
In 1980 Richard retired and the mill became Kersten Lumber Co.
In 1981 Kersten Trucking was added
In 1988 Kersten Building Center was added
