 1/31/98 Brett Favre and Reggie White will not play in the Pro Bowl this Sunday. Favre needs to have offseason surgery on his left knee and Reg has been having problems with his back. Favre will be replaced by Chris Chandler of the Falcons. Also not playing, is Super Bowl QB John Elway who has an injury to his shoulder.
1/31/98 The Packers organization has said that the Seattle Seahawks have not contacted the Packers about speaking to Head Coach Holmgren. Holmgren and the Packers expected Seattle to make a call by the end of the week if they were interested in Holmgren. It wasn't sure if Holmgren wanted to take the dual role in Seattle anyways. Two factors favored in the way of the Pack: Holmgren wanted to wait for his daughter to graduate High School in 99 before moving; and Holmgren had just finished a new house in GB.
1/27/98 The Packers returned to Green Bay today where 40000 fans greeted them home. The Broncos could only get 25000 fans into Mile High Stadium for their Super Bowl winning rally. Now who has the best fans in the nation. That would be the Green and Gold. Speaking at the event were Mike Holmgren, Ron Wolf, Bob Harlan, Reggie White, Eugene Robinson and others. The Packers should be back next year with a desire to get back to the big game and show the NFL who's America's team. It's definitly not the Broncos.
1/26/98 General manager Ron Wolf who built the Packers into a powerhouse announced that he would honor his contract through 2002 with the Packers. He reportedly turned down and offer to be the Seahawks general manager. This development leaves Head Coach Mike Holmgren with the possibility of taking both jobs in Seattle. The word in GB is that Holmgren will at least stay with GB through the 99 season to wait for his daughter to graduate high school.
1/18/98 6 Packers made the coveted All-Madden Team today. Offensive stars Brett Favre, Antonio Freeman, Dorsey Levens, Mark Chmura and Center Frank Winters made the team. On defense Reggie White once again made Madden's list of defensive linemen. Joining Madden on the show was his longtime partner, Pat Summerall.
1/15/98 Brett Favre reported that he has a torn Rotator Cuff in his non throwing shoulder today. He said that the injury may require offseason surgery. He also said that tendinitis in his left knee may also require off-season surgery. Favre noted that the injuries have not effected him so far this season and that they would not be a factor in Super Bowl XXXII
1/13/98 The Green Bay Packers organization has announced that the Packers will celebrate their return trip to the Super Bowl with a "Return to Titletown II Celebration" win or lose. The on-stage program is scheduled to start at noon with the gates opening at 10. Although last year the program was hours late, the buses being slowed by the crowd in the parade to the sacred stadium.
