December 5th, 1998

Jim, Doug and Chris arrived to find frost on the grass on a very cold morning at Cuesta Park. Doug got the first deuce of the day at hole two. Doug and Jim both scored deuces at hole four and every body got a deuce at hole six. Chris claimed the only deuce at hole seven. Doug held a one stroke lead after nine holes with Jim and Chris within striking distance.

Jim made deuces at hole twelve and fourteen to catch and pass Doug. Hole sixteen turned out to make the difference for the day. Everybody went OB on their drive! Jim and Chris went OB on the next throw, while Doug managed to stay in bounds. After all the strokes and circles for OB were counted, Doug had a 4, Jim a 6 and Chris a 7. Two double circles on the same hole. Out of bounds hadn't struck so hard on a single hole in recent memory.

Remaining pars caused no change in the finish as Doug held on for a one stroke win at 53. Jim had 54, while Chris came in at 63.
