Rain troopers Doug and Eric arrived in a drizzling rain to play Linda Vista. The see-saw battle of last week continued as Eric slid into the lamp pole at hole one for a long deuce, and Doug came right back with a long deuce at hole two. Eric bogeyed hole three and Doug bogeyed hole four. Doug took the lead at hole five with a nice deuce at the lamp pole by the playground, while Eric bogeyed. Eric scored another deuce going uphill to the lamp pole at hole seven, but again Doug came back with another deuce on hole eight to the tree by the fence. Eric bogeyed hole nine to give Doug a three stroke lead at the turn.

Both players were using a brisk risk walking pace in the rain. Eric started closing the lead with a deuce on hole eleven and Doug gave back another stroke with a bogey on hole twelve. The tide changed at hole thirteen, as Eric pumped his drive into the pond at hole thirteen. Doug stretched his lead with three consecutive deuces, starting at hole fourteen. Eric started a comeback with a pair of deuces starting at hole sixteen, and Doug misplayed hole seventeen for a bogey. With Eric needing to make up a stroke at hole eighteen, he misfired on his drive, hitting a tree. Doug played a sharp right turn drive for good position. Eric finished the hole with a bogey, while Doug parred.

Eric got under par, with a 25 on the back nine bring him in at 53 for the day. Doug's six birdies were twice the number of his bogeys, giving him a 51 for the day. A quick picture of the wet boys is shown below. (Widen your browser window, if the pictures aren't side-by-side).
