Rich Norris got up at 7:14 and realized he wouldn't make it to Saturday morning golf unless it was very close. The schedule declared Maywoord II, the closest course to Rich's house, so off he went. He and Jim met Doug, who arrived at his usual 7:30 on the dot. The weather forecast was for rain and the sky was ominous, but when everyone started play, it wasn't raining. The wind and rain eventually became a large factor. Fours littered the scorecard and everyone incurred at least one OB penalty, as everyone finished in the sixties!

Doug had the lousiest drive on hole one, barely missing a car in the parking lot and leaving himself with in bad position. Rich and Jim had decent drives, but Jim got in trouble leaving himself outside the fence to the "Chamber of Deuces". Missing an overhand roller left him with a 5. Rich could not negotiate the picket fence of poles to get into the chamber and ended up with a four. Meanwhile, Doug shot trhough the trees and over the roof into the chamber, right behind the hole for a par.

At hole two Rich scored a long ringing deuce as Doug and Jim parred. Jim found sand on hole three for OB and 5, as Doug bogeyed and Rich parred. No big swings until hole eight left Rich on the roof. After recovering his disc, he recorded a 5. Doug and Jim both had good drives, but Doug parlayed his into a deuce with an accurate shot and Jim came in with a par. The trhee stroke swing on this hole left Doug with a three stroke lead over Rich after nine and Jim another two behind Rich.

That lead evaporated over the next three holes as Rich deuced two holes and Doug got par and bogey on those holes. All tied for the lead. Bogeys were recorded by every one on the next four holes, except for Jim, who managed to get a par on one of them. Doug and Rich finally managed pars at hole seventeen, but everyone finished with a bogey at eighteeen as the wind and rain increased. No clear winner as Doug and Rich finished with 61's and Jim claimed a 67 for the day.

Tied after 18, Doug and Rich are pictured here, just before the sky opened up.
