The tough Maywood II course found four players, Doug, Rich, Chris and Jeff, ready for the challenge. Jeff held the lead after two holes by getting pars. Rich and Doug took the lead on the next hole as Jeff double-bogeyed. Chris managed the only par on hole four, as Doug's approach slid into the street for an OB. Rich and Doug traded the lead but nobody was able to claim a deuce on the front nine. After nine holes Doug and Rich were tied at 30. Chris had 30 and Jeff was at 34.
Rich kept saying "No more fours", but a couple crept into his column anyway. His bright spot was a deuce on hole thirteen and a very long finishing deuce on hole eighteen. These turned out to be the only deuces of the day among the group. Despite a six on one hole Jeff was Rich's best competition on the back nine. Doug thrashed badly on hole eleven and ballooned to a 36 on the back nine. The final scored showed Rich as the only player breaking sixty with a 57. Doug and Chris tied with 66 and Jeff was only one behind at 67.
