Chris and Doug were joined by first-timer Nate Fairchild at Evergreen. Steady play on the long course was a winning strategy. Nobody had a deuce on the front nine. Nate held the lead after nine holes with only one bogey for a 28. Doug had two bogeys for a 29 and Chris had a 35.
Doug made up the one stroke difference with Nate at hole ten, but gave it back on the next hole as Nate parred while Doug failed to convert a par from the bushes. Then Nate proceeded to open it up with deuces on hole twelve, fourteen, and finishing with another at hole eighteen. Nate finished at par 54 for the day, a fine round which enabled him to be one of the few people who became winner of the week on their first outing! Doug finished with 58 and Chris scrambled home with a 70.
