Doug showed up again the following week at Serra Park, but found no players, as Eric and Jim had announced their absence the previous week. Hello, Rich. Where are you!
A full complement of Deuces returned to play the Cuesta II course. Doug arrived while Eric, Jim and Rich were playing hole one and barely escaped a late penalty, but suffered a four during the rush to catch up to play. He made that stroke up at hole two with a long ringing deuce and immediately followed it with another deuce on hole three to take the lead. Eric and Jim suffered street panalties on hole four, but nullified the panalty stroke on hole five, with accurate deuces on the grate hole. Doug's game started to fall apart with bogeys on hole seven and eight, while everybody else parred. After nine holes it was a tight race with three tied for the lead at 28 and Jim just one stroke behind them.
Eric made a bid for the lead with a deuce on hole ten, but Doug and Rich caught up with him with their own deuces on the next hole. Four holes went by with everybody getting pars until the "tester" hole sixteen over the parking lot separated the men from the boys. Doug suffered a parking lot OB and recorded a 5, Rich claimed a 4, Eric got a safe par by using the bushes, and Jim banged home a deuce. Doug fell apart on the last two holes with bogeys. Eric claimed a victory for the day with the only deuce on the last hole!
Congratulations to Eric, whose par round was good enough for a two stroke win over Jim and Rich.
