There were no reports of scores or attendees at Evergreen as everyone seemed to be on vacation. Doug Korns was playing disc golf at the Senior World Championships in Santa Maria, CA.

Jim Hauer reported to Maywood with the thought in mind of an ace on the easy (most-aced) first hole. Having finished with an ace on the last hole of his last round, he would be able two claim two consecutive holes with aces. Luck was not with Jim as he turned out to be the only player to show and the park was busy with other activities.

So Jim decided to play by himself. He had to play some makeup holes and use holes from Maywwod II due to other people in the park. His first round was nothing to brag about as he was keeping score mentally. On the back nine Jim got hot a hit a series of deuces. After reaching the parking lot, he recounted his score in his head as seven deuces on the back nine. Rechecking in his memory, by replaying each hole, he counted that he'd played eleven holes on the "back nine". This somewhat diminished the greatness to seven deuces on the back eleven! "It was still a lot of fun," Jim reported.

Doug returned from vacation to play with Jim Hauer at West Valley I. Neither round got off to a good start as both players went O.B. on hole one, Doug in the street and Jim on the roof! Five for both players there. Hole two found Jim recovering from bad throws to record another five (no O.B.) and Doug had a natural bogey as well. Jim perked up with a deuce on hole three, while Doug got another circled four after a small tree captured his drive above the two meter mark. At hole four Doug carded his third O.B. in four holes by going into the street on his approach, while Jim parred. Jim bogeyed the fifth hole as Doug managed a par. Finally at hole six they both came alive with a deuce. With one more bogey at hole nine, Doug finished the front nine with a 32 and Jim managed a 30. Wow.

The back nine brought a reversal of fortune. Jim deuced hole ten and Doug deuced hole eleven. Hole fourteen goes across a bridge above a poison oak jungle. Doug's disc looked like it was going over the bridge railing heading into the jungle, when it nipped a support post and was kicked back onto the bridge. What a heart stopper. Jim was feeling scared, seeing the danger of Doug's shot, and proceeded to hold onto his disc too long, forcing it into the jungle. Lost disc. Two shot later, Jim went over the fence again. Not as bad but still leaving him with a tough shot. Jim had a 6 (with a circle for the O.B.) while Doug was thankful to get a 4.

At hole sixteen, Jim 's 4 had another circle around it, while his bogey on hole seventeen was earned naturally. The damage report for Jim on the back nine was 32, while Doug leveled off with a par 27. Total for the day showed Jim at 62 and Doug claimed Winner of the Week with a 59.

Five over par is good enough to make Doug as Winner of the Week.
