The fabled, post-tournament let down apparently affected all of the Flying Deuces, as Doug Korns found himself to be the only player to show up at Golden Oak Park. No play occurred. Maybe it was because it was a holiday and everyone took the day off!
The following Saturday found Doug, Eric and Jim recovered enough to test their arms again at Rengstorf II. Jim Hauer had a strong start with six birdies on the front nine, but two bogeys and only one par, put him at four under par, 23. Doug and Eric were virtually spectators with par and one over rounds between them.
Doug ambled in on the back nine with a two over par, giving him a 56 for the day. Eric charged back on the back nine with four pars and a bogey for a 24 and 52 for the round. Jim Hauer held onto his lead on the back nine, closing with an awesome, flagpole ringing ACE on the last hole, leaving him at 50 for the day.
