Doug found five players awaiting when he showed up at Coyote Creek. At the last minute Jim Challas, President of the Silicon Valley Disc Golf Club, arrived and joined the Deuces. The group split into a lead group of three (Jim, Eric and John) and a trailing group of four (Doug, Sam, Chris and Jeff). Comparing scorecards, Jim scored the first deuce of the day at hole three (real ten). Chris and Doug claimed the next deuces at hole five (twelve). Chris and Jim mastered the very long hole seven (fourteen) with the only pars. Doug and Jim managed deuces at hole eight (fifteen) and Jim added another on hole nine (sixteen). After nine, Jim lead with 25, Doug 26, John 28, Eric 29, Sam 31, Chris 32 and Jeff 33.

Scores started to improve the second time around with Doug, Jim and John converting good drives on hole ten (seventeen) into deuces. At hole fourteen (twelve) the group of four all carded a deuce, while Eric was the only deuce from the lead group. At the long hole sixteen (fourteen), Doug and Jim scored pars. Jim proceeded to close out his round with two more deuces. Sam was able to close his round on a deuce note at eighteen too. Jim, with a clean round finished at a stellar 49. Doug was close at 51, John had 56, Eric and Sam 59, Chris 63 and Jeff 64.

In my memory, this is the first time, that a first time player with the Deuces has claimed the winner of the week spot!

Final plans were discussed for the Annual Memorial Day Teams Tournament to be held at Delaveaga Disc Golf Course in Santa Cruz.
