Clear weather greeted players for the first time this year. Rich "this is my home course" Norris and John Davis came to a pseudo Bon Voyage party for Doug Korns, who's leaving for five Saturdays to visit New Zealand.
Doug jumped into the lead at hole two with a long drive followed by a thirty foot putt for a deuce. He gave the lead to Rich at hole four, as Rich converted a long deuce as Doug bogeyed. Rich increased his lead with another deuce at hole five, as Doug failed to finish off a long drive. Meanwhile, John was hunting for a deuce as bogeys and double-bogeys filled his card.
Doug and Rich had good drives for easy deuces at hole eight, but John failed to join the club yet. Doug stayed out of trouble at hole nine with a par, while Rich and John went over par. After nine hole Rich was two under par with three deuces and a bogey. Doug was one stroke behind with two deuces and bogey. John was going the wrong way at seven over par!
John showed everybody how to do it at hole ten with a deuce. Doug finished off a nice, right-curving drive on hole eleven with a deuce. All even for the lead. At hole eleven, Doug and Rich drove across the meadow and both claimed deuces. John deuced hole twelve after a huge drive, while Rich and Doug parred. Rich took the lead back at hole fifteen with a deuce, but Doug pulled even with a deuce on hole sixteen.
All tied with two holes to go. At hole seventeen, Rich produced a huge drive for a sure deuce, but Doug was able to convert a short drive with a well placed for a deuce to stay even. At hole eighteen, no one was able to get a right turn to the hole as everyone went straight into the wooded area around the utility pole. Doug's drive was the farthest away and had a thread-the-needle view of the utility pole. He kneeled down on one knee, said "Here's my shot", and then threw a line drive, three feet off the ground, smack into the center of the utility pole for a deuce.
Rich, thinking this was probably a winning shot for the day, went to assess his lie and found his line obscured by many trees. Doug suggested that Rich try a hyzer curve shot with maybe a skipping finish to the pole. Rich stepped up and sailed a hyzer curve shot that hit the pole on the fly to his amazement, as much as everyone. Another deuce and a tie for the day. Doug and Rich agreed to be co-winners of the week with rounds of 48. John kept reminiscing about his first round at Linda Vista, as he recorded a 60.

John captured this picture of co-winners Rich and Doug at the final hole.
