January 30th, 1999

Five Deuces showed up on a sunny day at the Coyote Creek basket course. John Davis made his first appearance of the year at the course where he has finished in the lead the last two times he played it. He was joined by last the previous week's rain crowd of Eric, Doug, Sam and Chris. Play started at what is hole seventeen on the actual course numbering.

Eric got off to a bad start with a 5 on the first hole, but made up some of the ground with the only par onm hole three, John Davis made up big ground of the field with an awesome par on the long hole (real fourteen), while most everybody else was getting a 5. After nine holes John Davis was the leader with a 29. Doug and Eric were right behind with 30's, with Sam at 32 and Chris at 34.

Doug had huge, accurate drive to begin the second nine and converted for the first deuce of the day. Eric parred the second hole while everyone else bogeyed. at Hole fourteen (the real twelth), Doug had another huge drive and coverted for his second deuce of the day. At the same hole, Chris had the shot of the day, with a long forehand deuce from behind some bushes! John Davis showed his mastery of the real fourteenth hole with another par three and Doug showed that he could stay with him with his own par three. When the scores were tallied up Doug had a par 27 on the back nine, to make a 57 for the day and a three stroke victory. Everyone else was on the 60's with Eric - 60, John - 62, Sam - 64, Chris - 68. This win was a nice birthday present for Doug.
