Rich met Doug, at Cuesta I to defend his string of victories. Doug took the early lead with a deuce on hole one. Rich took the lead back with deuces on holes two and three. Doug took the lead back with deuces on holes four and then six. Both players deuced hole seven and Doug continued his streak on hole eight with his third consecutive deuce. Both players stumbled on hole nine as Dug hit a tree on his drive and Rich went OB on his approach. At the turn, it was Doug with a 23 and Rich with 26, but Doug has had recent problems holding a lead after nine.

Doug opened up his lead with deuces on ten and twelve. Doug held a five stroke lead with six holes to go. Rich started a charge with an ACE on hole fourteen. Then on hole sixteen Doug's disc was tipped by a tree and went OB. meanwhile Rich made a "go-for-it' drive and claimed a big deuce. Coming to the last hole the lead was two and Rich told Doug he needed Doug to screw up big time. Doug proceeded to hit a tree on his drive and his second shot. Doug just missed his par saving putt and had to take a four. Rich got off a pretty decent roller drive and then hit a long sixty foot approach shot for a deuce and a claim to a tie for the day. Players reversed their scores from the first nine as Rich shot a 23 and Doug had a 26, leaving each with a 49! Rich remains undefeated this Millennium.
