December 30th, 2000

Eric and Doug joined in the final gathering of the 2nd Millennium at Coyote Creek. As has become the custom, the front tees were played first, followed by the back tees and starting at hole seventeen as the first hole. Neither player mastered the short first hole. Eric had deuces on holes two and three, as Doug followed with deuces on holes three and four. Both players finished the front nine with a deuce. After nine it was all even at 24 for each.

Starting at the not too different tee from hole one, Eric managed to hit a tree right off the tee. Doug didn't fair any better, going over the fence and O.B. Eric's recovery shot went wide left toward the next hole and it took two more shots to hole out. Doug played two shots from the boundary to hole out , giving each player a 4. Eric had some putting problems at hole eleven and suffered a 5. Consecutive bogeys on the next two holes left Doug with a big lead. Doug lost one of those strokes with a flimsy putt on hole fifteen. Hole fourteen got the best of both players as Eric claimed his second 5 and Doug suffered a 6 with the back and forth putting syndrome. Both players claimed a deuce on the seventeenth hole. The back tees are definitely harder. Final scores were Doug 24-31 for 55 and Eric 24-33 for 57.

Congratulations to Doug Korns as Winner of the Week (and Year (and the Millennium!))
