The McGill Swimming Team CHAMPIONSHIP Philosophy

The idea is to soar above the common herd of swimmers by virtue of superior willpower, strength, and confidence.

McGill swimmers fear no one.

The body itself may only need a few months training to get fit; the rest of the time you're building up your spirit - call it guts, or some inner force - so that it will go to work for you in a race without you even knowing it.

Your only tactic is to approach a race determined to win.

You can't win if you don't start doing something about your goals right now. Success and achievement await the person who can grasp it. Work does things. Hard things take time to do. Impossible takes a little longer.

Patience and persistence are the key words to success in swimming.

Destiny and fate have a miraculous way of working things out to bring tremendous results.

Most swimmers seem so afraid to let their personalities stand naked, that many cling to secret hopes and dreams that can never surface, causing only anxiety and frustration. Swimmers are much more energetic and ambitious, when they find an outlet for their emotions. Your outlet could be swimming.

Success should never be gauged just in terms of records or victories. Success should be measured by how much the swimmer enjoys what he/she is doing, to what degree he/she is striving to do his/her best.
