June 1999 (1 year!!!)
Where do I start. For a few months now, they have just been hanging out, learning some new things, just being babies. Well june changed them into bigger, smarter, more talented, more beautiful, more vocal babies (more mores to be added later).
Lindsey started the month by getting one top tooth. She didnt have as much pain as Kris, and not nearly the blood and tenderness he had. Its hard to see them be in pain, so we were grateful that it went easier for her.
They both started the month by grabbing their bottles and holding them on their own! Thats was a surprise! They had been holding them and throwing them for awhile now, but not drinking from them. I dont know what made them do it, probably didnt want to wait for us anymore, but they grabbed them and started drinking!
They dont do it everytime yet, but almost each feeding they will hold it for a portion. Its cool, hands free!
Kris got his first haircut on the 4th! It was an amazing event with everyone in the shop watching and applauding. Naturally he cried after awhile then when they were leaving he gave everyone a sly smile. But his hair looks great! It actually made him look older, more like a little boy. Lindsey watched him the whole time.
I got to watch them for a Saturday on my own for the first time since Lisa started the in-house job. My God! Its not easy to keep two kids entertained and happy! I was beat by the end of the day.
I think the hardest thing was having the kids on the floor helping them learn to sit up (sitting they do fine now, getting to sitting is another story) roll around and play at the same time. At one point Lindsey was grabbing/scratching Kris's eye as I turned to move something away from them. She was fast and luckily she didnt really grab anything. Scared me more then anything. They survived my handling though and have gone on to bigger and better scares.
Kris has surprised us this month with not only getting on his hands and knees in the beginning of the month, but shortly after that, sitting in it, and then standing, holding on to the side rail. It was over three days, very fast! It was very impressive! Of course he has also fallen after standing and gotten his feet too far behind him and was hanging on and crying, not knowing what to do, but it is a learning process and there are lots of "grown ups" that havent quite mastered standing and walking.
Not to be outdone, Lindsey has gotten as far as getting on her knees in the crib and holding on to the side rail trying to pull herself up. She knows what direction to go I suppose.
Kris actually played peek-a-boo this month, pulling his bib over his face and down, I said peek-a-boo and he laughed and did it again. He has played that a few times now, so he really has learned what to do.
Of course he has also learned how to tear his seat cushion too! They both like to spin around in their chairs and tug on the back of the high chair. Something that makes feeding real interesting as they smear their faces on the back of the chair and then turn back to the front and get it on the back of their heads too.
