1999 Races

My newly revised race schedule is below. Due to poor results while training in April and May and an even more dismal June, as well as not registering early enough for races, my schedule is now down to just a few for the summer months. Maybe I need to reconsider the heavy schedule?!?

MARCH 1999

Minneapolis YWCA Indoor Tri (15 min swim, 20 min bike, 15 min run), 6 March 1999

A first time for this race; let's see how we do in a pool I really don't like! (Turns out I was thinking of a different pool than this one, but I still had a decent race!)

The Marsh Indoor Tri (20 min swim, 20 min bike, 20 min run), 13 March 1999

This is a race I've done several times now (1997, 1998). I would really like to have my training going well at this point....I will need a good base if I'm attempting all these summer races! (Improved over last year, and had a good time!)

Tucson Triathlon (825 yd swim, 12.1 mi bike, 3.1 mi run), 21 March 1999

Can you say, "I just had to...it's for my Spring Break!" :-o I'm planning on a bike purchase for the spring, so I got a Raleigh road bike for just tooling around and racing in. Hope I do better this year with a road bike instead of a MTB like last year! Might be a bit of a test due to my third race in three weeks!

JULY 1999

USTS Triathlon, Minneapolis, MN (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run), 11 July 1999

A try at this race might prove to be the undoing of me, but it was such a great race in Madison last year (USTS Madison) that I'll try anything twice! Scheduled to be in Lake Nokomis, which is an OK lake; the bike and run are most likely fairly flat and fast out of there! Should be a blast!

AUGUST 1999

Turtleman Triathlon, Shoreview, Minnesota (1 mi swim, 25 mi bike, 5 mi run), 14 August 1999

Another race has risen from the ashes in Minnesota! Woohoo! I "raced" this event as a "bootlegger" in 1996 as my very first tri. I enjoyed the race last year, even with a longer than expected bike, and will more than likely do it again!

I'm ready to race now! (And I'm informed!) (Are you sure? Better check that brain of yours!)

OK, ok, I'm not ready to race --- I need MORE TRAINING!

Boy, you've raced a lot --- and many different events --- I gotta know more!
