| Here it is, my 1998 Schedule and Race Results! I hope these results will be informative to those of you who read these things for REAL race info! :-) I think I may be overly ambitious this year, but here goes! I think I'm ready for some more challenging races (even if the training isn't going as planned), so I've added a few "humdingers" in this list just to get my juices humming! |
I intend to improve on last year's performance, with its miserable bike....
March 22, 1998:
Tucson Triathlon (825 yd swim, 12.1 mi bike, 3.1 mi run)
Can you say, "I just had to...it's for my Spring Break!" :-o I'm not sure what to expect for this tri, since it'll be on a MTB; it should be fun, though!
April 26, 1998:
IronMan Bike Ride (30, 62, or 100 mile options)
Yes, I'm a 30 mile wimp! (And SORRY for my sloooow reporting of this event! I've been exceedingly busy with my new home!)
NOTHING....Training is not going well....mileage just isn't up like last year, and swimming has been virtually non-existent....
Again, I intend to PR...And looky here, I did!
June 14, 1998:
Manitou Sprint Tri, White Bear Lake, MN (0.5 km swim, 21 km bike, 5 km run)
Training for this season is SERIOUSly (inside joke :-) lacking, and I have decided to drop Ironhorse out of my racing schedule; this race on the 14th is a good warmup for the USTS race on July 5, and will give me a few extra days of hard training to prepare.
Can you believe I exceeded ALL expectations with this race? I hope Madison goes this well!
Another new race on my list, and a first-run for the event, too. I hope it's a good one! (Turned out to be GREAT! Met some Tri-DRS folk and had a super time!)
July 19, 1998:
Heart of the Lakes Tri, Annandale, MN (0.5 mi swim, 22 mi bike, 5.3 mi run)
I amazed myself last year with a great performance (compared to some of my fellow triathletes I knew). Could this be my race? :-?
July 27-31, 1998:
TRAM (The Ride Across Minnesota) for MS (about 60 miles a day)
New route this year in the middle of the state could prove more difficult than in years past....
Another race has risen from the ashes in Minnesota! Woohoo! I "raced" this event as a "bootlegger" in 1996 as my very first tri. Should be interesting to see if this one gets enough publicity....This event is being done in the place of Big Creek Triathlon, since this one is clsoer to home!
After some deliberation, I decided to scrap Mrs. T's this year (too close to the beginning of the school year for me). Maybe next year! This race is my final one of the season, and I will be training lots this winter to get even better at this thing called triathlon!
OK, ok, I'm not ready to race --- I need MORE TRAINING!
Boy, you've raced a lot --- and many different events --- I gotta know more!
